culturevulture.netPaul De AngelisLacks the polish of the science fiction classics of that era...but it shares the sincerity and appealing earnestness...
Movie ChambersPaul Chambers"I Married a Monster From Outer Space" is surprisingly well-acted. Everyone is dead serious, and not in a campy way as the title might suggest. It works. There are even some genuinely chilling moments.
User ReviewDuane BBasically 'Invasion Uf The Body Snatchers' but closer to home. Very well done and great cinematography. So very cool!
User ReviewEvie HFantastic movie, better now than when it was made: It's the mother ship of every sci-fi staple plot device, and also a veritable time machine of every movie plot device that's now obsolete because of advances in tech. The special effects are not computer-generated, but that adds to their charm, and they're pretty nifty, given those limits. Ever get serious with someone, and he suddenly seems to 'turn into someone else'? 'Monster' is also a great glimpse of the way courtship and marriage were viewed in the 50s. And just plain good fun.
User ReviewMelody BClassic. This is what Slither was taken from! Too fun!
User ReviewBrenda BI really liked this one. It was a little corny, as pretty much all the 50's sci-fi is corny, but it was also rather smart. It also featured some gore and themes that rather surprised me for the period.
User ReviewUgly TThis movie scared the crap out of me in the 50's at the theater. It is not as bad as it sounds. The aliens are classic and fleshy, and give me th ewillies
User Review* Trilogy *This is like, Ed Wood meets The Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Campy fun.
User ReviewDan KHilarious, couldn't wait to see the ending
User ReviewSarah FI love 1950's Sci-Fi so much! It can be good in one of two ways. It can be so cheesy its good like "Teenagers From Outer Space" or it can be just a really good movie like "The Day the Earth Stood Still." This one is a little of both. Its got the goofy 50's special effects with a little bit of silly melodrama thrown in there that is always fun. But its also a, tight, well made, and engaging sci-fi thriller.
