A little girl is born of the union and the factor's life is running along ordinary channels until he is unexpectedly called back to Montreal. Here new duties absorb his attention and he soon forgets his home in the wilderness. There is a lapse of sixteen years, during which the little half breed girl has grown up and her mother has died. A trip of inspection brings the factor back to the familiar scenes of his young manhood. There by chance he happens upon his own daughter. Impressed with her beauty and her likeness to himself he takes her back with him to Montreal, there educates and attempts to train her in the life of a white girl. She succeeds fairly well for a time, but the call of the blood is strong and one day when the floodgates of her memory had been opened she finds her own old buckskin dress, puts it on and slips away to the tribe. There she is found by her heartbroken father in the tepee of a young brave whose squaw she has become, and the white man then realizes his loss.
