We meet Leon's brother, Trygve, who fetches Leon at the institution to celebrate his birthday, but who himself has plans to use his leave from prison to run away. And most of all we meet the angel Vidar, Leon's best buddy at the institution, who sees things no one else can see, and who may be able to save everyone.

User ReviewEthan Bgreat film with great acting. loses a little bit in the translation. Still great cinematography and script! Go in thinking its going to be like "crash" but when you come out you will definately be thinking its sooooooo much better!
User ReviewThérèse FWHOA! SWEEEET! Not to mention tracks from one of my fav composers Arvo Part. Brilliant film.
User ReviewQi ZThe most religiously serious film that does not say a word about religion. Hawaii Olso is "paradise/purgatorio" in different manifestation. Beneath the visible stories there is the inevitable conflict of ambition and desires, the exercise of freewill out of our imperfect human foresight.
User ReviewCarreh RThank you MUBI for movies like this. A series of stories that eventually connect, foreshadowing that makes the whole movie seem like watching an accident you can't pull away from. I cares about all the characters and loved how mysteries slowly unfolded. Not sure what I think about the ending. I'd love to know what other people think.
User ReviewCaleb CAmazing film. I was able to purchase this film through blockbuster as it was part of the film festival collection they we're promoting some time ago, and then they just sold all these titles for dirt cheap. This was one of the many that was well worth every peny. Anyone that is able to get this film should check it out or just buy it right away if it's cheap like how I got it. The characters flow so well here and are engaging all the way through. Works a lot like Crash, but is a hell of a lot better. I wish I could see more from the cast in this film and I am honoured to say I own this one.
User ReviewTravis Vthis is easily one of the best films I have seen all year; granted, I'm a bit late in seeing it since it released in 2004, but it's a Norwegian film that I just stumbled across randomly it's a drama that takes takes three (or even four, if you consider the paramedic's role as its own individual story) separate story lines and fashions them into a remarkable whole: it is a drama wherein birth, separation, reunion, betrayal, crime, despair, hope, love, and death are all weaved together into a beautiful, tragic tapestry this film is powerfully moving; you will almost certainly weep
User ReviewStella Awhy do all scandinavian movies have a bad end? and why are bad ending movies always the best??
User ReviewMarko JThis Norwegian film weaves together multiple stories that all come together in a satisfying finale. This is beautifully shot with vibrant colours, and an excellent screenplay; altogether one of the best films I have seen recently, and a film with a big heart.
