User ReviewPaul DThere's a good mix of fast paced action and tense stand-offs in this steady western. Scott's acting doesn't differ but in the beginning his character isn't the clear cut hero he is known for playing for, although it is the underused Lee Marvin who excels as the dirty maverick among them.
User ReviewJeff ZWritten and directed by Roy Huggins, the creator of "Maverick", "The Fugitive" and "The Rockford Files", this film has none of the appeal or interest of those TV series. Instead we get a pretty standard western with Randolph Scott leading a group of Confederate gold raiders on a raid not knowing the war is over. They become hunted by the law and others out to get that gold and make a stand in a stagecoach station. Clem Bevins is okay as a old codger and Lee Marvin has his moments, but none of the guys chasing Scott and Marvin are anywhere near as tough as they are so its kind of a foregone conclusion.
User ReviewSanity Assassin !A low point among Randolph Scott's canon of work - this colourless western offers little to the genre and even an early role for Lee Marvin cant lift this from mediocrity!
