User ReviewWiebke KSlow paced but hauntingly beautiful. This film makes the most of its ethereal atmosphere to draw the audience despite its sparse dialogue and small cast. It is hard not to be drawn into the morbid and fascinating mindset of the characters and Kanata Hongo's acting is just perfect for this role. Overall one of my favourites but I can not help but hope that the rumours of a Hollywood remake are unfounded as it is hard to imagine any remake being able to hold onto the rare essence that this film has.
User ReviewLisette BWhat a beautifully dark who-done-it from the eyes of the socially strange.
User ReviewRobert BA lesser known J-horror film, which wasn't predictable and had a good dark side to it! With it being Japanese, it wasn't anything special for what it was, but still a decent film!
User ReviewDaniel PIt's interesting, but the acting is flat, the lighting is odd, the sound effects are awful, and there's a forced twist that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. However, I still liked it. It's a cool mystery with some interesting ideas.
User ReviewMelissa BPretty decent asian horror/mystery. 2 classmates become obsessed with a serial killer that poses corpses at art. Nice to see something without a paranormal slant.
User ReviewJason JSurprisingly billed as one of the must-see horrors to come from Japan, this is a rather disappointing movie overall. It's interesting mind you but there's no real horror in this movie at all. You only get to see severed hands and that's basically it. What makes this movie interesting is in it's lead characters - 2 screwed up teenagers who admire the murderer for his artistic killings and try to think where the next body is going to turn up. There's a rather good twist on the identity of the serial killer near the climax too. Kanata Hongo and Rin Takanashi make a good pairing as we delve into their twisted world of death. I suspect many could find this movie a little bit too slow and boring for their tastes considering nothing major of such happens. I found it rather intriguing and original.
User ReviewRobert HNot what I was expecting, but still an okay flick. Morino's bedroom is the most stereotypical goth bedroom ever!
User ReviewDon SVery low-key in both acting and horror aspects. Focuses on two Tokyo teens who are hunting down a serial killer on their own due to their obsession with death. We don't get enough back story on the male of the pair to know what makes him tick; the female lead, as played by Rin Takanashi, is understated yet convincing in the role. The twist is lame and has little effect on the story. Still, I liked it.
User ReviewPeter WYet another Japanese film about teenagers obsessed with death.
