Leave your thoughts about Gator.
The New York TimesRichard EderGator is yet another Good Ol' Movie, and not, I fear, the summer's last. If only it had a Good Ol' Plot worth a damn, it might have even been a halfway tolerable ol' movie.
Parallax ViewRichard T. JamesonGood-ol'-boy humor is my least favorite form of masculine love-antagonism in the cinema, but even a generous-minded peckerwood ought to weary rapidly of the snorting, yokking, hooting interplay...
Village VoiceMolly HaskellStructurally, Gator is a bit of a mess, largely because of the civilizing and romantic influence Reynolds has brought to the randy domain of the redneck action film.
User ReviewPrivate Ustarring and directed by Burt. Its like smokey and the bandit only in the bayuo! It's burt doing what Burt does best... being BURT!
User Reviewcable gBurt Reynolds and Jerry Reed, thats always a good pair.
User Reviewdaniel gThis genre is not for everyone, but for those who DO get into this sort of thing, this is an awesome movie. The genre is classic action, and more specifically this is a SOUTHERN film. It stars Burt Reynolds and Jerry Reed, just as Smokey and the Bandit would do the following year. If you like Burt Reynolds and/or Jerry Reed, and if you like classic action, this will be a favorite.
User ReviewDavid Lif u like smokey and bandit u will love this one
User ReviewCharlie MGator is pure guilty pleasure. Burt Reynolds directed and stared in this 1976 follow up to the excellent WHITE LIGHTNING. This time the feds don't want Gator for running moonshine, but to go undercover to get evidence on his boyhood pal Bama McCall (Jerry Reed). Lots of action , fighting, boat chases and Reynolds signature style.
User ReviewSam WAnother rockin movie from the 70's. Plenty of good lines, It almost is like a screen test for Burt and Jerry before Smokey and the Bandit. Great score. The trailer is awesome too.
User ReviewCarol JeanBurt Reynolds and Jerry Reed should have made a lot more movies like this! They pair up great in a movie. They play old friends, and enemies at the same time! Love the music too.
