Antagony & Ecstasy - 4/10 by Tim BraytonOnly the hypnotic oddness of what the film does to the Frankenstein mythos keeps it from dragging altogether.
User Review - 10/10 by danster bNick Adams and Kumi Mizuno star together in this.. what else can I call it.. WONDERFALL masterpiece from the great director Honda... This film is about a mutant Frankenstein that battles a subterranean monster known as Baragon!
User Review - 10/10 by Adam MThis is my favorite Japanese science fiction movie of them all. Love that Nick Adams
User Review - 10/10 by Paul Wits good... tho some of the worst model work in any toho film ever...
User Review - 8/10 by Blais EOne of Japanese film studio Toho's customarily-camp sci-fi classics, featuring their usual cheesily-fun effects work and ultra-detailed miniature landscapes, as well as a typically nonsensical plot: the still-beating heart of the Frankenstein Monster is sent from Germany to Japan for research during WW ll, and after being exposed to radiation from the Allied forces' bombing of Hiroshima, inexplicably mutates into a hideous yet benevolent snaggle-toothed oversized juggernaut who resembles the titular creature, replete with flattened head! After aimlessly bopping around the mountainous regions of the Land of the Rising Sun for a while, he encounters Baragon, a gigantic, grumpy, boston terrier-faced, rhino-horned, flappy-eared, flame-throwing dinosaur in serious need of an attitude adjustment, and they engage in a battle royale to the death, using the always-unfortunate Japan as their personal rumble-ring. Interestingly, the film was made with two endings--the other showcasing Frankenstein's fatal tangle with an outsized octopus. Both can be found on Tokyo Shock's recent DVD release.
User Review - 8/10 by mike pHeres a cool idea, take THE Universal monster and make him a giant, Toho style. Frankenstein Conquers The World is a unique and very cool film. I havnt seen this since i was a kid and this scared the crap out of me then. Well 30 years later it doesnt scare me but i can see why i scared me as a 7 year old. The Frankenstein "Monster" is pretty creepy. Especially when he goes total savage at the end. The story is pretty awsome. I loved how they got the Frank monster here. And they throw in Baragon too. The showdown at the end between Franky and Baragon is awsome. Its well shot, choreographed and the sets are great. As always theres the minitures and they become a real treat when theres a dioll thrown in to represent an actor. This is essential veiwing for giant monster fans. This is one of the best.
User Review - 8/10 by Brian AHitler, Hiroshima, Frankenstein and a big burrowing Kaiju named Baragon all in the same movie! Pretty crazy stuff, and yet, it feels so right.
User Review - 8/10 by Jeremy RAnother classic kaiju movie. Both the Japanese and American cuts are great in their own rights. Ishiro Honda, along with Akira Kurosawa, really represent all that is great about Japanese Cinema.
User Review - 8/10 by Steve SI saw this many years ago at the alamo drafthouse in austin maybe in 1997 and to a 7 year old kid, this movie was freaking amazing. What is to hate about a giant Frankenstein's monster fighting giant tortoises!!! This movie is absolutely amazing
User Review - 8/10 by Christopher BThat octopus! The way Frankenstein should have been told in the first place! Very entertaining and probably the most jaw dropping kaiju film I've ever seen. If you're a fan of giant moster films this is highly recommended. Oh yeah, and Baragon is in it too.
