VogueJulia FelsenthalEqual Means Equal can be a slog; then again, so is life as a woman in America.
Women's Voices for ChangeAlexandra MacAaronIn her ambitious film, Equal Means Equal, Kamala Lopez points out that "72% of Americans are completely invested in the false belief that the genders are explicitly equal under the U.S. Constitution."
The New York TimesHelen T. VerongosBroader than it is deep, Equal Means Equal still drills down into enough specific issues to shock us afresh.
Los Angeles TimesKatie WalshEqual Means Equal is a lot to process, but offers an unflinching look at the fight for equal civil rights for all.
Village VoiceAbby GarnettDespite the gravity and breadth of the subject matter, Lopez herself is a frequent subject of the camera.... These awkward inclusions can’t diminish the horror and injustice she catalogs, but they will make Equal Means Equal a difficult sell to anyone outside its intended audience of socially progressive, politically empowered women.
The Hollywood ReporterFrank ScheckThe cinematic clumsiness is a shame, because Equal Means Equal makes many powerful points along its diffuse, rambling way. Here is a case in which less would definitely have been more.
User ReviewJohn VA really exciting documentary packed with things you never realized about the unequal status of women world-wide, but especially in the U.S,. and the pressing need to renew the call for the Equal Rights Amendment.
User Reviewlily mI saw this movie at its NYC screening and was BLOWN AWAY!! I was floored by what I didn't know, moved by the stories in the movie and left the theatre and just couldn't stop thinking about it. I ended up sending emails to all my friends, both female & male and told them about this movie, which I never usually do, and told them they had to see this movie because it affects us all and the current situation is a travesty. and we all have to help in our own way to try and get the ERA RATIFIED. My daughter and her girlfriends came with me and were so fueled by the movie and its message that there all over social media letting everyone know. It is criminal and deplorable to see the current state of affairs for women. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this movie. This is a movement. It's someone who is really making a change. So beautiful to see in this current desensitized politically correct world we live in currently. A passionate narrative that shook me and my friends to the core. Someone NOT afraid to tell the truth, educate and put herself out there. My son and every one of my male friends will be seeing this movie. Getting the ERA ratified is just as important to them as it is to me and my beautiful sisters. If you want to be woken up and inspired...SEE THIS MOVIE!!! love it.

User ReviewAnnie DI had the opportunity to see Equal Means Equal while I was visiting NYC this past weekend. This film raises critical questions about the status of women in our society. A compelling argument is presented to highlight why it is critical that women finally be recognized under the US Constitution.
