Leave your thoughts about Dumbbells.
Los Angeles TimesMartin TsaiWith verbal jabs and sight gags in equal measure, the script proves serviceably funny. As the film progresses, though, the hilarity does not escalate along with the outrageousness.
Village VoiceSherilyn ConnellyDumbbells manages to be pleasant and largely inoffensive despite early indications that it might turn into a T&A-fest.
The Hollywood ReporterFrank ScheckIf it was still the 1980s, then Dumbbells might actually be a hit.
New York TimesStephen HoldenThe movie is so incoherent that its screenplay, by Mr. Drolet and Mr. Richards, might as well have been scrawled between takes as it was being filmed.
RogerEbert.comChristy LemireWorst of all: Dumbbells is never as shocking as it so desperately strains to be. What is shocking is the fact that this movie is seeing the light of day in actual theaters — even during the January dumping-ground time.
New York Daily NewsElizabeth WeitzmanA few barely conceived scenes allow Carl Reiner, Tom Arnold and Jay Mohr to show up for a quick paycheck. What’s that title again?
User ReviewJohn CI haven't laughed this hard at a movie in a long time. Thank you, Dumbbells. Once again it never ceases to amaze me how critics can have it so wrong. This movie has a great ensemble cast with two likeable leads and lots of gorgeous girls. It also has a ton of heart. It reminded me of the some of the classic comedies from the 80s and 90s. There are some hilarious one-liners. It's kind of like Office Space in the gym. Big thumbs up from me!
User ReviewGinger BI loved this movie...I think previous reviewers were extremely harsh. This is a farcical comedy that is aimed at making fun of stereotypes! It pokes fun mainly at the reality show genre...Fabio (whom is totally in on the joke) is Fab -ulous!! Hoyt Richards proves that his model good looks (OK who am I kidding ... His GREAT LOOKS) are onlynscratching the surface of his talent! But he does look SERIOUSLY G.O.O.D.!!! If you appreciate farcical humor and can watch a film to have a good time and just laugh your butt off, you too will enjoy this film! Don't over think it...this isn't the KINSEY REPORT! its just a fun movie....check it out!!
User ReviewTiffany LThis movie ROCKS! Love that Jack Guy!!! I thought this movie was very funny and not raunchy - Drolet and Hoyt did an excellent job!
User ReviewHoyt RIt's like Gone with the Wind in a gym!
