Zij is eigenaresse van cafe-hotel "De Rode Laars". De dromerige Constant ontvlucht deze wereld van drinjkers, gokkers en vechterbazen door gedichten te scrhijven. Zijn grootmoeder ziet liever dat hij de leiding van het cafe overneemt. Dan doet Constant stiekem mee aan een Nationale Dichterswedstrijd: een nieuwe Vondel is geboren!
