Common Sense MediaRenee SchonfeldPriceless comedy with a message-rich heart, mild swearing.
rec.arts.movies.reviewsTed PriggeOne of the funniest and most clever comedies that I've seen released this decade.
FromTheBalconyBill ClarkAn underrated gem that explores the long-term consequences of our everyday actions.
Washington PostDesson ThomsonBrooks-the-performer embodies the movie's spirit with superb modulation.
Chicago Sun-TimesRoger EbertThe movie is funny in a warm, fuzzy way, and it has a splendidly satisfactory ending, which is unusual for an Albert Brooks film
Baltimore SunLou CedroneIf you're looking for a pleasing, reassuring film, try this one.
Entertainment WeeklyMelissa PiersonBrooks works the other side of the manic explosions of our most popular comics: His humor is reactive but no less funny. If you can reverse your expectations, this may find deserved afterlife on your TV.
EmanuelLevy.ComEmanuel LevyThough visually impressive, the film shows problems with tonality, which veers from outright comedy to earnest therapy session--the "seize the day" lesson is not strong enough for a full-length picture.

Austin ChronicleKathleen MaherThe movie's light, easily forgotten and very good for a few laughs. I sure hope that eating thing comes true.
