A mythic memory play in the vein of The Wicker Man, Deeply is the story of a traumatized teenager, Claire McKay, who is brought to the Island of her ancestors in the hopes of she will recover from the sudden death of her first love. Claire encounters an eccentric writer, Celia, who tells her the story of another grief-stricken teenager, Silly, and the curse which has haunted the Island since the days of the Vikings. As Celia recounts the story of Silly and her great loss, a story that is yet without an ending, Claire relives her own trauma and undergoes a catharsis which sets her spirit free, healed of the grief and horror. As Celia said, a good story does indeed have the power to heal. But the ending to Celia's story has still to be written...

User Review - 10/10 by Rachael WA fantastic, mystical journey into the legends that shape a small Novia Scotian fishing village. A petulant teenager learns of the town's sordid past, while also having to realize that she is not the only one to have ever lost a loved one. Lynn Redgrave is amazing in this film. If you loved The Secret of Roan Inish, you will love this film.

A teenager travels to a small island with her mother, and meets a woman 50 years older than herself with a secret and a story to tell. As the mythic tale unfolds, the teen discovers that she and the old woman have much in common. I gave it five stars because it accomplished exactly what it set out to do. Yes, you do figure out the ending halfway in, and if you are looking for something fast paced this isn't it. But the scenery is beautiful, the characters pull you in, and the story is poignant. I'll watch this one again.

User Review - 10/10 by Katharine Hi found this movie in the cheap bin at walmart one day and decided to buy it and it became one of my fave movies. it starts out rather slow but i love the whole story and its uniqueness. it is a sad movie but its one of those ones that you just have to see. the end always makes me cry at first in sadness and then in happiness lol its hard to explain.
