Dread CentralStaci Layne WilsonDead Awake is a dream come true for fans of modern horror with a classic look and feel.
The Hollywood NewsKat HughesGiven this is one of the first movies that we can think of that covers sleep-paralysis in such detail, it should be fresh and invigorate the genre, instead it plods along ticking off all the expected, but uninteresting, boxes.
Hollywood ReporterJohn DeForeAs generic paranormal mysteries go, this is an awfully dull one, filled with dead air and stiff direction.
Village VoiceRob StaegerUnder the direction of Phillip Guzman, the whole affair plods along in by-the-numbers fashion, and the characters are all types, displaying little evidence of interior lives.
Los Angeles TimesJen YamatoDespite Donahue’s best efforts in a grand finale sleep session with life-or-death stakes, the premise never lives up to its promise.

User ReviewAntione WDead Awake is an interesting concept of a movie.. based in sleep paralysis..and while at first it comes off slightly contrived, it does have legitimate scares and at cast of characters that are actually grounded and believable while not becoming caricatures of themselves..found myself rooting for the lead actress by the end..Not as bad as some of the pros may say...well worth actress watch
User ReviewWilliam Cthe hag was well done. Concept is good. With a larger budget it would have been incidious type of series could have expanded on the Dream state more like the shower scene. Wasn't as bad as the "pro critics" are claiming. Goosebumps for sure
User ReviewDirigiblePulpA film about sleep paralysis, the only theme I've been more scared of going in to a film (see: "The Nightmare") than I have waking up the next day (as in, I thought I was going to have nightmares and wake up paralyzed but then woke up the next day having forgotten all about it). Well here's the fiction take, including the woefully underutilized since "The House of the Devil" actress Jocelin Donahue. It's too bad the the film itself is a tepid, creaky tale of a sleepytime boogeyman that strangles you while you lay there paralyzed. That's not exactly scary. The plot is just pure nonsense and the film has literally no tension nor atmosphere to speak of.
