Movie Reviews

The Playlist - 8/10 by Gabe ToroIt's unfortunate that commercial considerations seem to play into the third act, adding a more concrete representation of a very abstract idea.
Flick Filosopher - 8/10 by MaryAnn JohansonElegantly atmospheric indie horror drama plumbs typically unseen depths of children's coping mechanisms in the face of terrible real-life experience.
Village Voice - 8/10 by Alan ScherstuhlDark Touch, like much of the best horror, works the fears that connect to real life.
The New York Times - 7/10 by Jeannette CatsoulisThat space between reality and mirage is where Ms. de Van’s strength, and this movie’s true horror, lies.
The Dissolve - 6/10 by Noel MurrayDark Touch is meant to touch a nerve, not merely spook. It’s about deeper fears, and realer monsters.
The Verge - 6/10 by Adi RobertsonIt's hampered by its need for easy resolutions and horror set pieces, neither quite embracing nor escaping its genre roots.
Slant Magazine - 5/10 by Ed GonzalezThe film is beholden to a strange internal logic that gives primacy not to its protagonist's suffering, but to its maker's thirst for fun.
Grolsch Film Works - 4/10 by Anton BitelLike Carrie without the religion, or Village of the Damned without the aliens, Dark Touch is uncompromising, utterly chilling, and actually about something - the misuse of power, whether a parent's or a child's. It is also unmissable.
User Review - 9/10 by atash55Dark Touch shows us that real horror is in us humans. It does what great horror films do, connect reality with fear. Dark, gritty movie. It shows what horrors a child abuse victim goes through, how their innocence is lost. Man is the cruelest animal. One of the best horror movies of 2013.
User Review - 9/10 by MovieGoer14Easily one of the best horror movies 2013. It is effective and unlike most horror movies, it connects to real life. Although being extremely dark and very disturbing, at a certain level, it is entertaining although horrifying. It has "Orphan' movie feeling to it, although being better than 2009's horror hit "Orphan". Dark Touch is a well-made film, very twisted, disturbing and horrifying.
