VarietyVariety StaffCapable, audience-involving adventure on the visual level which doesn't rise to the epic stature but is content to resume the 'facts' about the Seventh Cavalry without taking a coherent attitude to them.
Time OutGeoff AndrewIt's an ambitious and occasionally stylish work, expertly crafted but let down by a script which doesn't quite decide what angle to take on its controversial protagonist.
User ReviewBrody MLove this film as it takes me back to my childhood.
User ReviewJohn DGood production standards let down by some amateur factual errors. Not one of Robert's stronger performances either, as he looks like he would rather be elsewhere. He still gives it a noble shot though.
User ReviewKeith TRobert Shaw is sturdy as the great American hero, the film is less so, but it's still a fair watch.
User ReviewGeoff PThe usual inaccurate retelling of the idiocy of Custer, but this doesn't detract from the fact that it is a good western romp.
User ReviewJason GI can't really speak for the historical accuracy (or lack thereof) in this film... I will say that Hollywood probably took some liberties with the facts in order to shape this otherwise completely entertaining western. It's a great film all on it's own, but the ever fantastic Robert Shaw is the real reason to watch! I liked it!
User ReviewDrew HNice old school movie. Trying to make Custer out to be a hero instead of the fuck wit he really was.
User ReviewGreg WSprawling, impressively shot but extremely over long, by about an hour, history revision. Shaw is good in the lead.
