Leave your thoughts about Curse of the Pink Panther.
The New York TimesJanet MaslinNot unfunny, and not really an offense to the memory of Inspector Clouseau, it's merely a movie with very little reason to exist.
Miami HeraldBill CosfordCurse of the Pink Panther resembles a set of gems mounted in a tarnished setting. Abetted by screen newcomer Ted Wass’ flair for physical comedy, filmmaker Blake Edwards has created genuinely funny sight gags but the film’s rickety, old-hat story values waste them.
NewsweekDavid AnsenMaybe if it looked like Edwards cared about the movie it might have been something more. Even so, without Clouseau, what The Curse of the Pink Panther brings us is staged prop humor, and a number of indignities courtesy of the make-up and wardrobe departments.
User ReviewJonathan PHILARIOUS!!!! All Pink Panther movies are the BEST!!!!
User ReviewMuffin MWith Clouseau still missing, the French president orders Clouseau's archrival - the dangerously deranged Dreyfus (Herbert Lom) - to find him. Having no such intentions, Dreyfus ingeniously hires the world's worst detective, New York Police Department's not-so-finest Clifton Sleigh (Ted Wass), to ensure that Clouseau is never located. But it's beginning to look like his foolproof plan could end up making him look like the fool!. also stars Burt Kwouk, Robert Loggia, Harvey Korman, David Niven, Robert Wagner, Capucine, Roger Moore and Joanna Lumley. directed by Blake Edwards.
User ReviewYvette VI liked this movie(: haha It was amusing and funny.
User ReviewJenny WThis is one of the funniest PP, my favourite. Inspector Clouseau is missing so another detective has to find him, he studies everything about him hoping for a clue. They show the best clips from all the other PP movies. I recommend this one to watch.
User ReviewJack YBetter than Trail of the Pink Panther even if that earlier film had Sellers out-takesbut they were terribly disjointed. Curse may be hugely criticized for its attempt to carry the legend on Sellers-free, but Wass does a reasonable job as a buffoon, while it is more than wonderful to see the return of Niven, Wagner, Lom, Loggia and others, bringing the story practically full circle. Moore plays Clouseau playing Moore (the second send-up of himself in the 1980s, the other being Cannonball Run) in a cheeky tribute. Given what it had to work with, a fine job from Edwards, though the non-Sellers PPs should have stopped with this one.
User ReviewColm CPara todos los que adoramos al inspector Clouseau este homenaje completa maravillosamente la serie con el fantástico Peter Sellers.
User ReviewFilip CThe character of Clifton Sleigh refreshes the tired series. This time Edwards took a much better approach by intruducing new protagonist instead of turing Wass into new Clouseau. Aldough Wass can't replace Sallers, the movie delivers a couple of funny gags. Although the Roger Moore cameo is lame for the most part. Some of the minor jokes don't work because of uneven comedic timing. Personaly I felt that the film had potential of taking the series into a new direction and I wish that this approach was maintained, so that we could see some more of Detective Sleigh. Instead we get the three terible follow-ups.
