Foreman of the Sewell ranch, Alec Lloyd is nicknamed "Cupid" because of his propensity for matchmaking. When Alec discovers that Simpson holds a ticket on the same train, he pursues his rival on horseback and forces him to admit his fortune-hunting intentions. Macie then casts aside her ambitions to marry Alec.
