Movie Reviews

Chicago Tribune - 10/10 by Michael PhillipsThe beauty of the Turkish film Climates, a small but indelible masterpiece, is more than skin-deep. No 2006 film meant more to me. It's as sharp and lovely as the best Chekhov short stories.
Seattle Times - 10/10 by Jeff ShannonOne of the most perceptive and turbulent love stories in recent memory.
Boston Globe - 10/10 by Wesley MorrisIt's one of the great movies on the vicissitudes of love, commitment, and attraction.
Entertainment Weekly - 9/10 by Lisa SchwarzbaumExquisitely structured, pitiless study of a middle-aged man trapped in a stagnant emotional weather pattern.
New Yorker - 9/10 by Richard BrodyUnder the guise of the universal theme of love and its mysteries, Ceylan offers a glimpse of harsh and unresolved local particulars.
Film4 - 9/10 by Anton BitelDress warm for this chilly dissection of the irreconcilable gulf between men and women. Acutely observed, artfully executed, and grimly funny.
Combustible Celluloid - 9/10 by Jeffrey M. AndersonThe carefully composed exteriors are the only clue to the roiling emotions underneath.
Miami Herald - 9/10 by Marta BarberCeylan examines human relationships with an eye for details and a soul for the big picture.
The Nation - 9/10 by Stuart Klawans[The Film's] most powerful forces are confused, unstoppable desires.
EmanuelLevy.Com - 9/10 by Emanuel LevyA director of noncompromising art films, Ceylan has made an existential meditation on solitude and the fleeting nature of happiness that in its detailed mise-en-scene and precise use of physical space recalls Antonioni and Angelopoulos
