FILMINK (Australia)John NoonanCamp and somewhat frothy, Chastity Bites gets by on the strength of its cast who are all clearly having a whale of a time.
Film ThrillsDeirdre CrimminsThe film is delightful. Its playful tone and energetic heroine give life to the incredible concept, and bring Bathory's legacy to modern audiences.
User ReviewDean JSo much fun! A must for fans of 80s horror films. Louise Griffiths is insanely hot.
User ReviewTom KGreat, much in the vain of American Werewolf in London. Some good stuff, esp. you like Buffey.
User ReviewJon C'chastity bite's indeed in this one a message sent to women and everyone else about remaining abstinent from sexual intercourse but done in a humorous manner a lot of points are brought up about sex, self-respect, remaining pure and innocent, selling oneself short, and asking if there's any actual self-control for a school writer and her best friend its bad enough not being part of the in-crowd but also not conforming to dubbing themselves as promiscuous that changes when Elizabeth Bathory comes to town to come in as a spokesperson advocating a chastity circle for students but she's actually an immortal feeding off of virgin women's blood to stay beautiful and young now it's up to the brave writer to save these girls and possibly her friend from falling into the same horror this movie is actually quite funny given the heavy subject matter and might make a few people think
User ReviewTDB aCute satire on "B" horror movies crossed with Mean Girls and Heathers.
User ReviewZachary MYou know what's one of the worst kind of conversations to have with some one? The ones where someone picks a stance on a topic, and then rants and raves endlessly. Not only that, but they are so narrow minded that the only side to that subject they see as valid is theirs. And should anyone else even try to raise a counter point, they are struck down angrily. I hate people like that, and I hate movies like that. Most issues that are complex and worth discussion; race, religion, sexuality, politics, there will always be shades of grey and areas of doubt. If a movie wishes to raise topics and issues and discuss them it can, but in order to restrain from being preachy, and more importantly, show multiple fascists to the issue, it must be willing to examine an issue from more than one angle. This film doesn't do that. Told in a tongue and cheek comedy, you may not expect such gravitas, but it has been done before, and well. This film, like that douche, picks one side and makes it the only valid side and all the opponents evil, with no redeeming characters or shades of grey. Even if you agree with a particular stance someone is trying to make, in this film's case that abstinence programs do more harm than good, seeing 90 minutes of rightwing bashing and hardcore leftwing appraisal, only makes for a long slog of a film. A long slog indeed.
User ReviewPaul DThe acting is terrible, the story has certainly been done before, but at least it doesn't take itself seriously.
