User ReviewMathieu BVery shocking from the begining to the end
User ReviewPatrick M"Il y a bien deux choses que je ne pourrai pas lui refuser..."
User ReviewBryn TBrilliant cinematography. I love how Noe chose such an undelicate profession for the protagonist.
User ReviewChristopher BThere's a large number of people who think they know what cinema should be. Artists are either there to make one think or to entertain. As long as your thinking about the correct things. Noe has always spit in the face of convention, making bleak movies that could be argued have no redeemable values. Sure they have serious issues in them, incest, rape, murder, vengeance, etc, but they don't give clear answers or even opinions. Noe seems to be just fascinated by the dark side of mankind and beyond (time destroys everything after all). Which is a-okay with me, but for those easily offended or don't believe in expressing nihilism for nihilism's sake should stay far away from his output. Carne is the short film that I Stand Alone is based on. It makes a great introduction for that film and also works as a great introduction to an incredible new talent in cinema. Nahon is excellent as usual and the story is downbeat while Noe's filmmaking still make it very watchable.
User ReviewNaoko AFantastic life.scilent daughter and the father7s face.I became numb!!!
User ReviewMikko MVery shocking from the begining to the end
User ReviewMichel POh how I love fresh meat, prickly made like a vesper nun.. Noe practically slaughters his protagonist, chopping off his sentimentality or should we point out his...slothfulness?
User ReviewTimmy RI'm not sure if it can be considered Noe's most accessible film (or medium length film), if anything can, but I would consider it his most humane. While "I Stand Alone" is heavily nihilistic and "Irreversible" is a bit too unfocused and intimidating, "Carne" has a true heart. Much of Noe's work is intent on assaulting the audience, but here it feels just tolerable enough to have an impact that doesn't scare us away. The fact that Noe isn't yet trying SO hard to push buttons makes the sad and disturbing elements more powerful.
User ReviewIvan DThis is my second Gaspar Noe venture, and it makes me more interested in his other works. This short film is very uniquely made, with great editing, and a surreal atmosphere. Though it is violent and graphic, the film in general is very well-made.
User ReviewCraig CThis hard to find short from Gaspar Noe introduced an unwilling audience to his unremittingly bleak vision of contemporary French culture. Astonishing.
