Eugenia is a former pop singer who is bedridden and dying of cancer. Her 19 year old daughter Helena dreams of traveling the world and learns foreign languages at home and wishes she could be a glamorous pop star like her mother was. Helena cares for her mother with the help their house maid Chaya who also keeps the aging house in working order. Sebastian's dreams are simple and he merely wants to move to the beach. Helena is smart and pretty but she has no friends, male or female and is totally devoted to her mother's care and is also on the verge of initiating an incestuous relationship with Sebastian. Sebastian however, is falling in love with a boy at school named Juan who is the school roughneck and the son of a single father who owns a little bar...

I can really recommend seeing it, refreshing, uncommercial, young cast, great director that knows how to tell a good story. |
| User ReviewJavier VNi siquiera se por donde empezar. La fotografÃa, seguro, es excelente y perfecta selección de las locaciones. Estéticamente me pareció ambiciosa y muy buena. Los encuadres, los movimientos de cámara, sútiles y precisos. La música me deja sin palabras, pues es excelente al grado que ya bajé el soundtrack. La historia y su filosofÃa...de qué manera uno siempre tiene que dejar de aferrarse a todo para seguir adelante...ya sea el pasado, ya sea la gente, ya sean cuestiones morales, éticas, sociales. Vuelve a relucir la discusión sobre lo que es normal, porque, realmente qué es lo normal. Las pequeñas historias que sirvieron de parteaguas para que los protagonistas llegaran a una resolución final, el aspecto en el cual los seres vemos un ente fÃsico o psicológico de diferentes formas que contemplan desde su entorno social hasta el ideológico, asà como la presión de la sociedad, o la imposición de los estándares que 'regulan' nuestra sociedad. Por ese lado, el guión es excelente y fue una grata sorpresa descubrir entre los créditos a Maria Renée Prudencio como co-autora del texto fÃlmico. La sensibilidad de los actores en su interpretación de la crudeza de la realidad y, globalizando, todo aspecto frÃamente calculado. El resultado: una obra de arte en 35 mm. |

Irene Azuela had an outstanding performance. She had to be like that to overcome established stars as Cecilia Suarez in the Ariel Awards.Good for her! |

Yo creo que la pelicula es linda y poderosa; muy teatral en muchos aspectos, pero hacia falta algo asi dentro del cine mexicano. Irene Azuela hace el mejor trabajo de todos los actores y... muy merecido Ariel. Es una gran promesa, de corazon, en el cine mexicano. A cambio de Angel Onesimo que no solamente sus gestos son poco creibles, sino sus intenciones estan completamente perdidas y desubicadas... puaj, fue lo unico que odie. De ahi en fuera, la ame. Todo se desenvuelve en un ambiente triste, pero hubiera sido el colmo que (SPOILER) el final fuera violento y desastrozo como les gusta hacer en las peliculas mexicanas. Muy bien a Francisco Franco! Ah, la musica tambien me encanto. "Mi Principio" en voz de Eugenia Leon me parecio profunda, y ya la misma cancion pero en voz de Julieta Venegas me puso la peil chinita. |
