He gives her his last dollar so she can square with "Bearcat," the landlady, then he has to avoid Bearcat and her bouncer. Later, he tries to get his comedy read by the production manager at the same theater where his neighbor's just been fired. She's desperate, so she agrees to lunch with a Lothario, who takes her to a speakeasy. Our comedy-writer follows them to the club where an accidental roulette bet, a police raid, and a hectic pursuit end the story.

User Review - 8/10 by Christopher BThe first of Lloyd's double reels. Classic.
User Review - 8/10 by Sarah FI'm still working my way through HL's films. Each one I watch makes me appreciate his comedic genius even more. HL's frustration with the typewriter is a hoot; running from the landlady ($3.75 for overdue rent) is a scream; and the police raid on the speakeasy is just hilarious. Watch for the great backflip on the staircase. His hiding-in-the-coat gag never gets old. The cops do a Rodney King on one of their own, which is funny in this context. And, of course, Harold gets the girl (Bebe Daniels) in the end (literally next to the boozing cops - it was Prohibition after all!). The more I watch films like this, the more I realize just what junk is in theaters today. Now, onto "The Kid Brother."
User Review - 6/10 by Aj VI really liked the story and it was funny enough, but the ending was horrible. Overall it's just okay.
User Review - 6/10 by James SHarold Lloyd is a star of the silver screen, back when comedy wasen't the rauchy thing that it is today. Though if your a fan of today's comedy then you probably won't like much here. The inbetween jokes aren't that great here, but the funny stuff his what happens on the screen. He has great timing, physically and is able to tell so much of the story even without words. Still this uis the first of his films so I can't really call it his best or worst. The next one I watched that night I enjoyed more then this one. Another thing to note is the music score. It works well with what happens on the screen and helps tell the story. So if your an old comedy buff then you'll want to watch this one, because it's good at least.
