The story is set in the latter days of World War 2, against the backdrop of fierce combat on the eastern front. Brother's War is based on real events. The western Allies push into Germany and the Red Army fights its way towards Berlin. Churchill is worried about Russia's post-war plans for Europe but must not endanger the increasingly threatened alliance between the west and Russia. A British military officer attached to the Red Army discovers a Russian war crime against the Polish government in exile and is seized by Stalin's feared intelligence service. He finds unexpected help from an enemy and fellow prisoner, a German Captain. They discover a common bond in Freemasonry and are bound by honor, oath and secrets. They are joined by Anna, a beautiful Polish nurse cast adrift on the tides of war. The three are pursued by A ruthless Russian commander through Germany carrying a secret that can change the outcome of the world and the fate of millions. Brother's War was produced with strict attention to historic accuracy and military detail and portrays the horrors and heroism of desperate battles. The film also opens the door into the ancient order of Freemasons and presents unmatched insight on the real histories of these men, brothers all, who have fought in every war for hundreds of years.

User Review - 10/10 by marchus wThis was an awesome independent film, really well made and well acted. I loved the story absolutely original and well thought out. The lead Tino Struckmann did a fantastic job leading this film, a great supporting cast, some well known faces compliments Struckmann's performance. But Struckmann belongs in great studio films to really shine and when Hollywood gets a look at him, I know he will get a chance to be a great star. Great movie, if you are a war film fan you must see.
User Review - 10/10 by jamie aI have to say I do not feel the rough critique of this film justified. Sure it is an Indie film and not of a million dollar budget. but they put a lot of effort into it, a lot of historic facts and nice war scenes, The tanks and guns were real not fake CGI and they made a serious effort here. I truly enjoyed it and watched it several times, there are some really good points to it, and the acting was solid on all parts. And of all the war films I have seen this is absolutely one of the better ones. And as film fans we should acknowledge those of smaller budgets not just run them over because they did not have a studio budget. solid story line and subplots they get a thumb up.
User Review - 10/10 by Beate KI found it a most compelling film, With strong historic content. The producers really have understood this terribly period and with all the small subtleties and dangers. I was very impressed and can only recommend it. I also very much enjoyed the lead actors I found all in this film did a very good job.
User Review - 10/10 by Mohammed AThis was a great war film come on guys, there are people out there who have knocked this film way down. It does not deserve a bad review, it was well thought out, the music was absolutely amazing and the acting really good. the lead Tino Struckmann did an amazing job some of the scenes really got to me. And I agree they did their research many small details in there, not just a fluffy movie. would love to see Struckmann in a remake of the Iron Cross, or a brother movie with Olivier Grunor they play really well of each other. For any war film it is a must see, it is an independent film but put very well together despite of that.

User Review - 6/10 by Jim MGerman-Polish Border, 1945: As the remnants of Hitler's Reich prepare for their final stand, Stalin's Red Army rolls steadly forward crushing all resistance. Already plans are being made for the post-war order, plans that will see Eastern Europe trade Nazi tyranny for a Communist one. A British attache to the Red Army witness' the murder of members of the Polish Government in Exile and is seized and imprisoned where he meets a German Capt. Discovering they are both Freemasons shortly after their escape the two join together, picking up a Polish nurse along the way, and make their way across Germany witnessing the brutal end of a tyrants dream, running from he encrouching Soviets, avoiding the Nazi SS determined to fight to the death, trying to reach the safety of the Allied Armies in the West and deliver their warning about the new threar rising in the East. Decient, would have benifitted from a bigger budget. Acting isn't anything to right home about, directing is merely competent, the choiral score is nice but can be distracting, and everything looks to clean to convince one we're seeing the remnants of a country on the verge of defeat (usually no more then 30 miles from the front). Still it has it's moments, and well Nazi war crimes are well documented, the Soviets have gotten a free pass in the media, despite commetting a number of atrocities (against people we considered Allies at the time such as Poland), carved up Poland with Hitler (indeed shortly after the Nazi's invaded Poland from the West, Stalin invaded from the East), and subjugating Eastern Europe to 50 years of occupation and tyranny. The film also shows (at least partially) the Western Allies turning a blind eye to this (a whole movie could be done on the betrayals made in the name of peace). Not great, but it has it's moments. I'd recommend it for anyone interestedin World War II/Cold War.
User Review - 6/10 by Dru Xrecognized the low budget nature (I think the entire movie was shot on somebody's 10-acre farm) of this movie early, but taking that into account, the historical accuracy of the uniforms, weapons, vehicles, etc was notable. Also, the soundtrack was impressive. The subtle theme was to bring attention to the German persecution of the freemasons during the war. Amateur actors aside, this was a decent low-budget straight-to-DVD movie for what it's worth.
User Review - 4/10 by Van RDreary, self-conscious, heavy-handed hokum set in 1945 on the border of Poland and Germany finds German officer Captain Klaus Mueller(Tino Struckmann of REDBELT) fighting a losing war as the savage Communists close in and the Wehrmacht runs low on ammunition. A British officer, Maj. Andrew Pearman (Hugh Daly of THE RACE TO WITCH MOUNTAIN), serves as an observer with Stalin's Army. Unfortunately, Pearman witnesses some scandulous Soviet skullduggery on the part of Colonel Petrov (Michael Berryman of the original HILLS HAVE EYES) who has exiled Polish government officials and German troops massacred. Pearman escapes and joins up with Mueller and they head for American lines. This meandering melodrama seems to go on forever. Director Jerry Buteyn takes himself too seriously and BROTHERS WAR becomes virtually unbearable. Like the infinitely better SAVING PRIVATE RYAN, BROTHERS WAR opens with an older, wiser Mueller returning to the battlefield to remember Pearman who was a fellow freemasony. Pearman has evidence about Soviet perfidy and desperately strives to make it back to British lines to warn his countrymen about the Russians. BROTHERS WAR portrays German soldiers as dignified enemy and the Gestapo like black-hearted murderers. After Mueller and Pearman team up, they run into a fleeing woman, Anna (Hayley Carr of DEAD BABIES), who has a soft-spot for wounded soldiers and wants to tend to them. Do not waste your time. The CGI special effects are marginal. The Germans--except for the Gestapo--are presented in a positive light, while the Russians are demonized. Berryman makes a terrific villain. The combat sequences are lackluster. The scene where the Gestapo agent murders a German soldier and Mueller gets the drop on him is as good as it gets and that is not saying a whole lot. Clearly, director Buteyn was struggling to recapture the sense of hopelessness of those 1970s World War II movies about the declining fortunes of the German Army, such as CROSS OF IRON, SERGEANT STEINER, and THE EAGLE HAS LANDED. The tragic ending and the somber revelation that the murderous Russian incident must be covered up unless the Allies want to turn over their Soviet allies is appropriately cynical.
User Review - 2/10 by Andrew AI felt from the beginning this film was going to be terrible! Low budget, horrible acting and the German accents were butchered. When vehicles or planes were shown, they looked like as if it was a scene from Thomas the Train. Brother's War? more like Boring War! I spend $1 to see this movie and I feel violated!
User Review - 2/10 by Dylan PCompletely unconvincing. "Soldiers", in combat who's clean-shaven faces are untouched by war, vehicles that look brand-new and unused, grossly un-military battlefield behaviour, cheap special effects, stereotype casting. Performance by all actors casual and off-hand, no passion, no grit. You might overlook all this if there was an interesting story to be told, which there isn't.
