EmanuelLevy.ComEmanuel LevyThis Fred Astaire-Bing Crosby musical is plotless, but the performers are charming and the movie includes some of Irving Berling's best songs.
User ReviewJulianna TGreat dance sequences...especially puttin on the ritz :)
User ReviewNeil PA very enjoyable film, and my personal favorite, this film has a weak plot, but it is still fun because of Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire working together. The music by Irving Berlin made the film enjoyable (they even worked in Bing singing "White Christmas" again). The best part of the film, though, was Fred Astaire's rendition of "Puttin' on the Ritz", made all the more fun by the fact that it was the only time we got to see multiple Fred Astaires on the screen at the same time.
User ReviewCheryl VAny movie with Fred Astaire should be considered a masterpiece! He's a genius actor/dancer/singer
User ReviewHana DIf you're blue and you don't know where to go to Why don't you go where Harlem sits Puttin' on the ritz
User ReviewPrivate UA classic treasure. Bing and Fred are always a great pairing, and the songs and dances are a constant delight. Granted, the plot is a little silly... very silly. But it's a musical!
User ReviewChrissyAgain, Fred and Bing! How can you go wrong??
User ReviewChrisanne SBing Crosby has a gift of playing someone who's character I detest, but who's personality I can't help loving. Astaire is good and their duet is great fun.
User ReviewSV GThis is a film which takes you back in the late 40's when musicals where starting to fade from Hollywood Pictures. This film has many great film actors like Bing Crosby, Fred Astair, Joan Caulfield and Billy DeWolfe. Bing Crosby plays the role as( Johnny Adams) who is a night club owner and sings and dances on the side. Johnny is good friends with Fred Astair,(Jed Potter) who visits Johnny at his club and brings along his girlfriend Joan Caulfield,(Mary O'Hara) who seems to fall immediately in love with Johnny. There is plenty of great old time musical tunes by Irving Berlin and if you like to see Fred Astair dance all over he place, this is the picture for you. Gene Kelly was originally scheduled to perform in this film but was taken ill and Fred Astiar was called to take his place.
User ReviewAj VCrosby plays against his typical roles, and shows he can play more serious roles as well as the silly romantic types he's done previously. The movie also has Astaire who may or may not be the better choice for the woman in the movie. A very interesting story.
