Movie DearestFr. Chris CarpenterStarts promisingly but is ultimately compromised by its characters' shifting allegiances and alliances. Too much of the film is hard to swallow...(Writer-director Fernanda) Cardoso may need to get back to basics academically.

User ReviewSophia CNvm! The movie did NOT suck. "I thought this movie was intense. It dealt with a very self-assured woman who controlled, pretty much everything around her. Then this student came into her life and took her by storm...unexpectedly. In turn, the girl fiound out that she could stand on her own without having to depend on someone else (her co-star that died) and the teacher who could not deal with the separation. The teacher did turn a bit ugly at the end, but she was actually having some real feelings and was uncomfortable with not being in control. She tried to handle the situation, like most of us do, through anger and passive-aggressive tendencies! I thought it was realistic and hit close to home. It is hard losing someone you really love." I felt everything this person just said. It seems simple but it has a lot going on underneath. Not your typical lesbian film. Some people have a hard time with endings, and the ending was not an ending most audience would enjoy but just like the ending in The Vow, it was real. I love reality endings. Same with Dawn of the Dead. I mean what did you think? *SPOILER ALERT* that they would all escape and live happily ever after? No bitch! It was a zombie apocalypse!! They all fucking died!!!!!*END OF SPOILER* *composes self* ahem... Anyways, as I was saying. The movie was so endearing and the two main characters had so much chemistry that it's not even funny. And someone said that it looked like a 40 year old having a 12 year old lover. You are high my friend. Since when do 40 year olds look that hot (with the exception of Samantha from Sex and the City) and since when do 12 year olds have double majors?! This is an 18 year old college freshman crushing on a hot sexy late 20's Professor. And this happens quite often. Not too much of a gap considering they're both close to the same age range. You know, the 20's. I have a 19 year old friend dating a 29 year old. So I don't know why some feel the need to say this is pedophilia. I don't know. They have issues. Furthermore, managing to bring out the sensuality without even taking off clothes is big plus. O.O This goes to show how intense the chemistry was. Well it's also because Allison is like super hot but yeah. She could be dressed up in a straitjacket for all I care, she'd still look hot!

User Reviewthomas rThe conclusion is a letdown but in general this is a well-made lesbian movie that deserves some praise for (mostly) avoiding cliches. McAtee and Stouffer have great chemistry and their ever-changing dynamic is entertaining to watch. Bloomington isn't perfect but it's a nice surprise in a summer void of anything so daring.
