User Review - 10/10 by Neil MI'm buying the set, I love this vampire series
User Review - 6/10 by Allan CI'm quite surprised at myself for having not watching this Charles Band Full Moon Features production before and have quickly become a fan of the Subspecies series of films. I think what I like most about the series is that the vampires here are neither the Bela Lugosi elegant gentlemen type, nor are they the emo Anne Rice/Sookie Stackhouse type of vampires. The vampire Radu is a nasty scary looking monster. In many ways, he reminds me of the Steve Niles vampires in "30 Days of Night." In this third installment, Radu is still controlling one of the sisters from the previous film and her other sister is trying to free her from Radu's thrall. As with the previous films, this was competently directed by Ted Nicolaou, who makes the most of the European locations and the real-life castle that was owed by Band's production company at the time (and which appeared in just about every Full Moon film of this era, even one misguided Trancers film). Anders Hove continues to be creepy as Count Radu, the practical special effects are solid (and bloody), and the production values are better than most Full Moon productions. Overall, this one is a must see for fans of Charles Band films, but honestly this film is probably not one for non-fan of Full Moon Features.
User Review - 6/10 by Mathias BAwesome -- if you like the bloody vampire movies, etc. Watched this in junior high. (Sorry to go behind your back, Mom.)
User Review - 6/10 by Derrick CThis film went backwards instead following up the sorta decent second film and decided to be more like the first. Nothing much really happened here. A few flashes of what could have been a better flick but all in all it disappointed. Everything here felt uninspired and rushed.
User Review - 6/10 by Pablo MIts a realy old vampire movie, but is good, not like the first of the series but entertaining....
User Review - 6/10 by James Cfollowed the story line and kept the same actors...story still holds
User Review - 6/10 by Carl NSo this picks up where part two left off. Radu and his mother take Michelle back to there castle. While there he tries to teach her what it means to be a vampire. What is different from part two is that Radu seems weakened by his love for Michelle. He becomes an object of pity here, not evil incarnate as portrayed in the first two parts. The usual mix of horror and humour are on display here again. One short scene has Kevin Spirtas friend turn up. Bob is a mercenary of some sort? He is corny as hell. Lt. Marin is also given more time, most of it played for amusement. Melanie Shatner plays the role of Rebecca again. She even adds a nude scene. (Sadly from the back) The rest plays out by the numbers horror. Not as intelligent as part two, but fun to watch none the less.
User Review - 6/10 by Scott AWOAH. This really is just the outtakes from #2 huh? There are some wonderful shots of Denice Duff standing around with her cleavage, but really NOTHING else happens. My favorite character was the female victim that escapes with the trio at the end. She was awesome! Even Radu looked bored for most of this one. Too bad. Plus the little Subspecies creatures barely made an appearance. It was really disappointing. It is really too bad about this one, because the poster made the movie look really good. OH and Mummy goes out like a punk, really!
User Review - 6/10 by Wes SStarts off rather dull and slow, but it got better towards the end. The acting is still decent, the effects are alright, but the characters aren't too interesting. The worst of the first three in my opinion, but still a good sequel for a Full Moon film.
User Review - 6/10 by Tim SBloodlust: Subspecies III picks up right where Bloodstone: Subspecies II leaves off, unfortunately. The same actors are back, including the whiney lead and her expressionless sister, but there's an additional cast member or two in there. Nothing's really changed all that much from the previous film, which was boring at times and didn't really have much of an ending, at least compared to the first film. I would say that this third film is only slightly better than the previous one, for a couple of reasons. First of all, the lead is not quite so whiney, and she somewhat embraces her destiny instead of weeping about it all the time. Next, there's a slight bit of comic relief from the police chief character, but he's also a bit more interesting in a character sense than the leads. Third, Kevin Spirtas is back and he's not a doubting Thomas this time around, which got annoying. Fourh, and last, the film has a proper ending. Now all of these things doesn't mean that the film is much better than the last, only slightly. It's still boring and seems to be going in the wrong direction. Personally, I would much rather have seen a couple of films about Radu versus his brother, but unfortunately, that didn't happen. The positives are still there, but overall, it just feels like retread. At least they continued to film in Transylvania. That's always a good thing, but not everything is.
