Keenan and McCarthy spent 4.5 years confined together, held underground for much of their captivity, at times chained to each other and to the walls of their prisons. The two men, who could easily have found themselves at opposite ends of a gun barrel in Northern Ireland during the Troubles, instead forged a relationship which transcended all that appeared to divide them. "Blind Flight" tells the story of this compelling relationship as they both resurrect their deepest memories, feelings, fears and loves. In their near biblical journey they uncover many of the forces which made them blind and captive human beings prior to their physical captivity. They finally discover a compassion for their captors which makes the film a 'love story' in the fullest and most humanistic sense.

Shadows on the WallRich ClineHart and Roache are astonishing--raw and exposed, bristling with anger and fear, righteous outrage ... and years of religious and political prejudice against each other.

User ReviewKirsty WBrilliant. Effectively and touchingly conveys the mens' relationships with each other and their keepers whilst not becomingly saccharine or claustrophobic. Highly recommended.
User ReviewCormac JJohn McCarthy and Brian Keenan were held hostage in Lebanon for more than 4 years. this film is an account of the time they spent held as captives together. Some of the humiliations, violence and fear they must have experienced is shown in the film, together with the way that they managed to cope with their ordeal, but I'm not sure that the film portrayed the squalor and horror in quite the same way that is possible with the written word.
User ReviewAngela BGreat turns from Ian Hart and Linus Roache as Brian Keenan and John McCarthy respectively. While the books are perhaps more evocative of their experiences as hostages in Lebanon in the late 1980s, the friendship between the men is realistically and movingly portrayed.
