User ReviewHunter II like this movie it's better than Killer Buzz, and it's also better than Swarmed too, this is one of the best wasp movies I've seen.
User ReviewMarius LGood "B" movie type of film - small american town terrorised by a swarm of deadly wasps which have had their genes tweaked by Englund to turn them into a weapon - so much wrong with this film but possible to look past it's shortcomings and still enjoy it
User ReviewJason DBlack Swarm is another entry in the low budget Maneater Series which provides cheap B-movie Nature-run amok horror. From the start, they were real stinkers, but gradually, they gotten better and better, and Black Swarm is no exception. The film is about a mother and daughter who move to a small, quaint town just before the invasion of genetically-mutated super bees built for the army (of course) picks up steam. The bugs have already been stinging people and turning them into zombie-esque drones that stagger about town until barfing out additional bees to cause a ruckus. It's up to the sexy mom (whose also the new cop in town), the sexy entomologist whose been called in to help figure things out (though she bares a secret of her own), and the local sexy exterminator, who happens to be the twin brother of the new girl's dead husband. Yeah, there's some soap opera nonsense put into it. The acting is slightly alright, but what is TRULY awful is the hilariously stupid dialog ("Lucy...you got some 'sploding to do!!"). What truly saves this movie is the great Robert Englund who plays the mad scientist that developed the bees and is now trying to stop them. He was terrific in this very comical "horror" film! Not bad.
User ReviewSally FBlack Swarm is a bit like the wasps come the end of the summer, a little dozy and not sure where they are going. This is pure dumb fun, with the plot soooo not making sense in places that you end up shouting at the screen but so what it made for a bloody stupid and daft watch and there's nothing wrong with that.
User ReviewCarl NI hate wasps! But I didnt hate this film like I thought I would? This is actually rather a fun B-movie. The wasps in this film are genetically modified wasps, so they look different to normal wasps so that made it easier for me to watch. The GCI effects were passable for this type of film. What I really enjoyed was that it featured not only killer wasps but also zombies. I dont think there has ever been those two in a film before? The other highlight is that Robert Englund has a fantastic role as the scientist. He is also in the film all the way through, rather than the usual five minute cameos he has been doing of late. Sarah Allen is the eye candy, she seems to change outfits every scene? But thats alright with me.
User ReviewJoshua LIts really good for a B movie. No pun intended.
User ReviewSteven MSurprised me. Acting was actually pretty solid throughout and I found a lot of the characters to be quite interesting, even if a plot based on mutant wasps remains about as ridiculous throughout the film as it does when first heard. Okay, I love wasps, so I'm quite biased being for this movie.
