Groucho ReviewsPeter CanaveseSucceeds in giving the general impression of a pivotal historical moment, and excels in crafting some of the most astonishing aerial-warfare sequences ever put on film. [Blu-Ray]
Ozus' World Movie ReviewsDennis SchwartzAn all-star ensemble cast consisting of the who's who of British films can't save the war epic from being a bore.
Mountain Xpress (Asheville, NC)Ken HankeSurprisingly flat considering the talent involved.
Chicago Sun-TimesRoger EbertThere are so many characters we never get involved. We can't even keep them straight. The writers never solved the problem of incorporating the top-heavy special effects into their thin little plot.
User ReviewTim SThis is the masterfully told account from both the British and German perspective. The aerial combat sequences are the best I have ever seen!!!
User ReviewDaniel Mamazing!!! i've seen it before but not for many years and re-watched it recently. if you're British and proud and want to be reminded of how close we were to becoming German then this all star cast epic will do the trick. Very English, outstanding!
User ReviewEd HIt's very easy to forget just what a beautiful film this is. Even if you don't like the sentiment behind it (and I DO) just sit and watch the camerawork and the aerial displays. This was made in '68! You know where you can shove CGI after watching this. Just brilliant.
User ReviewRichard BFabulous flying sequences which make the story and the impressive cast incidental.
User ReviewStephen RWith an all star cast and some great lines - amust see film for every aviation/war movie buff...AWESOME!!
User ReviewMichael FI'm a great fan of the Spitfire, and the scene where Hermann Gerring asks his pilots if they need anything, and one of the German pilots says, "A squadron of Spitfires" Classic. With what we know today, filmakers could make a great remake of this.
