Things are very dull in the little town, so Hoot, who is in partnership with a miserly old man and in love with the pretty bookkeeper, decides to stir things up. He robs his own safe, and hides the money in a hollow tree. But a real bandit comes along and swipes it. The boss suspects him. The sheriff suspects the girl.
