Leave your thoughts about Are We Not Cats.
Los Angeles TimesKatie WalshThe singular aesthetic is gritty, beautiful and expressive, and somehow, you want to root for the love story of Eli and Anya, thanks to the charismatic performances of Nicholson and Lopez.
VarietyJessica KiangThough this is a slightly unreal world in which no one looks at their iPhones or uses a computer...the sweet earnestness of the two leads makes their characters real.
The Hollywood ReporterNeil YoungWhile very much a film of two unequal halves, there's more than enough cinematic chutzpah on display here, especially in the early sections, to confirm the Floridian writer-director as a name to watch.
Village VoiceSerena DonadoniRobin uses well-timed jolts and gross-out moments to awaken his solitary characters from their stupor, to shock them into acknowledging that their existence isn’t confined to the soul’s protective shell.
The New York TimesGlenn KennyAre We Not Cats is a well-put-together film with a lot of striking imagery, but, as you may have already inferred, something of a specialty item.
Daily DeadHeather WixsonIt's DP Matt Clegg who transforms Are We Not Cats into something so wonderfully weird on a visual level, that you can't help but become smitten by Eli and Anya's blossoming, albeit highly unconventional, relationship.
CinemalogueTodd JorgensonEdgy yet elliptical, the film manages to be both creepy and charming, even though the characters aren't conventionally sympathetic. Like the film, the committed performances feel raw and authentic.
User ReviewAlex RThis movie had incredible cinematography on top of a gruesomely entertaining script. Would recommend to all of my friends.
User ReviewCandace BSo insanely good-- couldn't stop thinking about it weeks after. One of those movies you have to process and discuss. Really sticks with you. Piece of true art!
| User Reviewkimact13As much as the subject matter is disturbing but a real thing the movie was so well directed by Xander Robins and the acting by the two leads Chelsea Lopez and Micheal Nichoson is beyond superb! Keeps you on the edge of your seat thru the whole movie! Can't wait to see more of all three of these talented individuals work going forward!! Highly recommend seeing this artsy well done movie!!
