One of the samurai awakens to find himself miraculously healed. He meets his savior, a mysterious man who tells him that his friend died from his wounds. The samurai is persuaded to stay the night. His host tells him the legend of the "Tengu", a goblin which is said to reside in the mountains dining on the flesh of men. He goes on to reveal the true name of the Tengu : Aragami. When the samurai asks if Aragami poses a threat to the temple, his host answers : "I am Aragami". The only way for the Samurai to leave the temple is to destroy Aragami.

Eye for FilmAnton Bitelan epic two-hander that seems all the more ambitious in scope for its near Aristotelian unity of time, space and action.
User ReviewEugenia Banother amazing movie by Kitamura..takao osawa is great there
User ReviewAaron KSamurai versus relativist Yokai with a vast collection of foreign liquor. Not only a jem in the art of "closed-room" production, but full of surreal humour and flashes of action in the middle of the wordy and witty dialogues.
User ReviewMaksym KThis movie is too good. It can a little bit slow between the fighting, but its perfectly shot. The action, the costumes, everything is great!
User ReviewStefan GThis movie was awesome on so many levels. There is nothing in this movie other than a swordsman and a demonic god of war in human form, sharing drinks in a temple, discussing philosophy, and fighting to the death, and everything about it is scintillating. Nothing stands in the way of how the two principal characters interact with each other, both in battle and outside of battle, and the movie truly does so much with so little. The sheer premise of the movie I feel is worthy of applause, as is the transformation of the main character. Overall, I was totally taken in with the movie, and it's hard to write extensively when I feel this way about a film.
User ReviewHolly FFascinating story of Aragami, God of Battle, a demon that hasn't been defeated in so long. That whenever travelers visit the temple and stay the night, Aragami tell his tale and then offers the traveler a chance to defeat him.
User ReviewMartin DBeautiful pacing, strong writing, with the dynamic style of Kitamura, both in fast action, and slow camera moves whose edits flow with each other. An amazing piece of work, both intimate and epic in its simplicity.
User ReviewSusan STHE MOST AMAZING FILM i've seen in a very long time.
User ReviewLee ?I loved it, it's been stuck in my head since the first time I've seen it. Warning: this is not your typical martial arts movie, it's like a play and the accent is on words and not on swords (pun intended). I recommend it to anyone searching for more than a sword fight!
User ReviewMichael T1st Installment of the Duel Project. Super stylish samurai swordplay. Strong fantasy plot & great fight sequences, this showcases the developing style of Ryuhei Kitamura(the japanese Tarantino).
