A look inside a tragedy through the eyes of a survivor. Based on actual events, April Showers is about picking up the pieces in the direct aftermath of school violence. Set in a middle class suburban neighborhood, April Showers focuses on the lives of a handful of teachers and students as they attempt to make sense of a world that has just been turned upside down by one of their own. With the community and an entire nation caught up in the 'story', the students of Jefferson High must turn to one another for answers. In the wake atrocity, the rifts caused by misinformation and a frenzied media prove difficult to overcome. Lost and lonely under the international spotlight, one young man navigates his way through his almost indiscernible home. From quaint suburban town to battlefield turned media circus, Jefferson High provides the backdrop for Sean's struggle to cope with the loss of his friend April.

User ReviewNada JWOW!!!! What an INCREDIBLE movie! A must see!!!!
User ReviewWrik SAn inspiring piece, where reality comes to life as we look back at Columbine and the other events that transpire around us. Well done.
User ReviewJared LOne of the best movies I've seen. "April Showers" is one of the most important movies of the decade.
User ReviewNia EAnother tragic film that was heartbreaking to watch. I'm drawn to films like this.
User ReviewMatt HGreat movie. The kid from spy kids was amazing.
User ReviewSarah GBest movie I have seen in years! I cried the whole way threw. Very realistic. Very moving.
User ReviewCaitlin GA very interesting, personal look into a confined tragedy. With little screen time of the actual shooting, this focuses on the after math and psychological damage of the survivors. Personally, the acting in April Showers is far superior to Elephant, which feels raw and dark. It is an underground, low budget movie, but a good watch.
User ReviewShaun K Lthis was such a powerful film of a horrific event in american history that scared and effected so many people. what I thought was most affective was a couple of things one was the fact that the movie was from the point of view of the kids at the school rather than what most people have done telling this story, they always seems to do it from the point of view of the kids who where doing the shooting rather than the kids affect by it. the other was it focused on the aftermath of the shooting showing how these kids and people affected by the shooting where coping, which I thought was a much better idea rather than just focusing on the shooting itself. i also really liked the fact that the shooting was at the start and most of the film was shown in flashbacks which i thought was very affective so we could know more about who these kids are. The acting was quite good and the way the film was put togther was very well done as well.
User ReviewVessela DThis movie was totally different from everything I've seen lately... Such a sad and touching story...
User ReviewElizabeth NA friend recommended that I watch this film because I love the Gus Van Sant film 'Elephent' so much and both films deal with similar issues. In some ways this film holds so much more emotion and depth than Van Sant's, which is hardly suprising considering 'April Showers' deals with the tramatic experience of living with the aftermath (whereas 'Elephent' is used as a way of examining what makes young people walk into a school holding a gun) and was based on the directors real experience of living through the Columbine shooting. The fact that the main characters we were presented with were not only friends with April (one of the victims) but also with the shooter was something else which added to the heartbreaking reality the story had. One of the saddest moments for me was watching Sean inform Nick that it was his best friend who had been shooting at them - watching Nick's devastated reaction and his refusal to accept the truth almost broke my heart. I also felt huge sympathy for Jason, a boy who blamed himself for certain factors outside of his control. He didn't ask for someone to come in and turn his world upside down, and he didn't deserve to feel so guilty over his actions when that happened. I also thought the camera work and the cinematography and some of the music help to add to the sober feeling the film possed. That said I still think Van Sant's use of cinematography, camera angles and CCTV type footage was better, which is why this film looses out a little to 'Elephent' in my mind - that said I still thought this film was a beautifuly told tragic story and it is worth watching. And when the credits rolled the list of names of people who have died in American school shootings is chilling, especially because there are so many we don't even hear about.
