User Review - 10/10 by Private Ui like all history movies from Roms time...this is one of the best...
User Review - 8/10 by TheSecond PThis movie is exactly what you think it will be like, only way better, and a lot worse. Everything is entertaining, from the cardboard sets to the silent movie over- acting, the frosted hair and especially the costumes. Ohhh, the costumes. If you like Amazons (and who doesn't), gladiators, Amazons fighting gladiators, strippers acting and some lovely, lovely dialogue, you will enjoy this movie. Minus one star for being chintzy with the soft-core sex.
User Review - 8/10 by Alexis Fthe dialogue and most of the acting is embarrassingly bad but... but... man that girl is SMOKING. She gets 4 stars, and now i have to go wallpaper the rest of my integrity with cheap softcore porn.
User Review - 8/10 by Michelle RAmazons and Gladiators may not be big on special effects, but the fight scenes are ok. Basically it's about women standing up for them selves and taking back their freedom from the Gladiators. If you like strong female characters like Xena-Warrior princess than you'll like this film. However if your a guy you may not like this film, as there is a little bit of men bashing in the movie. The phrase that best sums up this movie would be "I am woman here me roar!".
User Review - 4/10 by Denis CPlus: - titillating costumes and nudity - acting OK except for support roles - music and photography are competently done Minus: - We hear that "60 years after the birth of Christ... one of Caesar's greatest generals, Marcus Crassius, was a hero of the Punic wars and the man who captured Spartacus." Now: 1. Spartacus was not captured 2. but defeated by Crassus (no i, lived 115-53 B.C.), 3. in the year 73 B.C.; 4. the third and last Punic war ended in 146 B.C. - The Amazon queen is called Zenobia. The real Zenobia was queen of Palmyra (now in modern Syria), not Pannonia (in modern Hungary and Austria). - Some of these Pannonians are called Serena and Samuel and Matthew and Gretchen. - Senator Angelo?? - Snippet: "...everything will be different when we're free - Will it? We'll still just be wimmin." (Rubbish! there's a sorority of bosomed newagey cheerleader Amazons waiting for them!) - rip-off: amazon Jennifer Rubin in Xena outfit - "With the advance of the Visigoths, Huns, Vandals and Amazons, the Roman empire would soon fall..." well, four centuries later. - Why does Nichole Hiltz (Serena, the main character) only get fourth mention in the credits? She should be first or second (after Patrick Bergin, "Crassius").
User Review - 2/10 by MEC rHow is this film best summed up? I'd go for 'a lamentable bag of dog eggs'. Featuring the sorriest assemblage of sets, costumes and fake weapons since the fall of the Roman Empire, the film tells the less-than-rousing tale of Serena. She's a slave and she's also a dancer. In fact she's been training as a dancer for ten years (oddly, the best she and her pal can manage is best described as naff, sex-show shuffling). She escapes from her captors and hooks up with the Amazons, whose camp has been borrowed from a Lithuanian Dark Ages re-enactment society. The Amazons are proto-feminists, but they don't hate men: Serena meets her new love living amongst them. His name is Lucius and he's an honorary Amazon (he was allowed to join up on account of the size of his boobs). With her new friends in tow, Serena heads off to mete out some revenge to naughty old Crassius (or is it 'Crassus'? He gets called both...). Had the film not featured some quite random and marginal nudity, its sub-Xena fight sequences would have made it suitable fodder for Channel 5 on a Saturday morning. As it is, the potentially genius combination of amazons and gladiators comes nowhere near to living up to its promise as a fun piece of exploitation trash.
User Review - 2/10 by Duane TA cash-in job released around the time of Gladiator, Amazons and Gladiators is little more than an exploitation flick.
