Six novice riders-father, sons and friends-take on the Colorado backcountry on BMW F800GS adventure bikes to create a film about life, meaning and the longing to be part of something epic that is written on every human heart. John Eldredge, author of the New York Times best-seller Wild at Heart (4 million copies sold) and his three sons are joined by two friends for a thousand-mile ride through the best dual-sport tracks the Centennial State has to offer, serving up a thoughtful documentary on life's deepest questions. "Everyone is looking for a story worth living," is the line that opens the film-an adventure narrative that captures the highs and lows of dual-sport riding, including a bone breaking crash on Engineer Pass. "We set out to tell a story about story," Eldredge explains. "Too many adventure films are high on great footage but desolate when it comes to content and meaning. You can only watch so many Red Bull adrenaline shots till you want something meatier-a film that talks about something worth hearing." From a cinematic point of view, A Story Worth Living is certainly a gorgeous "best of Colorado" feast with sumptuous footage ranging from the Sand Dunes through ranch country to the famous high backcountry Alpine Loop outside Ouray. Psychologist Dr. Dan Allender joins Eldredge (a counselor himself) to stir up reflective conversation on the story every individual lives, and the story we are all looking for.

User ReviewBrad MThis film is amazing! I don't know what all the backlash and outrage is about? This movie left my wife and I gaping - longing - bursting at the seams ready to discuss what we had just seen! I can't recommend it enough! When did motorcycle riding and being a man, equate to not talking, or not being in touch with our hearts, or not sharing our stories with our best of friends? It's been DAYS now since we saw the film, and I feel like I can remember every major emphasis of the narrative: "We long for a great story" - don't we? "The story we want has beauty and love in it" - right? "Whatever story we think is going on, needs to explain both love and beauty, as well as pain and loss" - whoa. "We all long for a redemptive end to our story" - I sure do. "A story is only as good as its ending" - wow, so true. "How do you want your story to end?" - like what you are showing right now in this scene, a family who has broken the cycles of the past and is laughing and celebrating life with healthy kids who married healthy wives and all the hope in the world for a bright future. ....And then the kicker... "What if your story doesn't have to end?" Wow. It would seem to me that any film that was MERELY about adventure, or MERELY full of beautiful motorcycle scenes would be lacking any real meaning...unless there was some commentary on how it all tied into a larger, grander story. Anyways, I loved this film. It's still affecting me. Thanks.
User ReviewKurt WWith gorgeous footage and sincere human interactions it has a depth that most adventure films lack. It reminds me of my own adventures and calls me into more with an even deeper meaning.
User ReviewKen SVery good film. Well done. Presents the adventure & struggles any newbies may have as they take a risk and do something way out of the comfort zone. The film was shot very well. I enjoyed the arial shots. The discussions were interesting enough. I did like how they brought in the idea of our lives being part of a larger story.
User ReviewMarc BThis film was fantastic, beautiful cinematography, epic story. Our theater was packed until the end. The bonus content at the end including the interview with the cast and Charlie Boorman was gold!
User ReviewAndrew KExcellent film that speaks to the deepest parts of the human soul. You did it!
User ReviewWilliam HMy oldest son and I went with friends to see the movie. We enjoyed it thoroughly. It was interesting to see how it was put together then the thoughts each had on the adventure fear joy pain excitement. We left the theater wanting to get the men in our family together for an epic adventure of our own. To feel the commradery talk about deep issues in our lives push ourselves to do something hard we've never done and come out victorious. This was a John Elderidge adventure movie and it was exactly what I expected beauty adventure battles to be fought (within one self) and celebrating with the woman afterwards. I'd pay to buy the video and show it to friends and family who couldn't make it.
User ReviewLeslie LWow!! I LOVED this movie! It was absolutely brilliant and breathtaking! The cinematography alone was stunning but to see such fierce and mighty men courageous enough to not only undertake - much less film themselves undertaking - such an adventure with so little experience in riding was truly inspiring! In this day and age of so many people hiding behind masks and so many unwilling to take any type of risk that might be exposing of themselves, I am so incredibly challenged, inspired and emboldened to take more risks and put more of myself out there to help others live the life that we were made to live! Spectacularly done And Sons Magazine, Ransomed Heart and sponsors!! Thank you so much for showing us there's so much more that we are made for!!!
User ReviewGregory SI appreciated the setting. The idea that life is an adventure and these guys are trying to figure it out just like the rest of us. It didn't feel preachy or over the top. Just some dudes on a bike. I can understand where there might have been some disappointment had I expected to see some hard core motorcycling, but that's not what i was looking for.
User ReviewTyler GFor what it's worth it's impressive for any of these guys to pick up and do something of their dreams. Most people sit around and "wish" they had done something awesome. These guys actually did it! You can tell that they didn't know what they were doing, they admitted they weren't experienced riders, its not the point. The point is they did something that made them come alive, but they are also bringing along a part of themselves in the story. As a low budget documentary, I thought it was amazing, these guys aren't actors; they are normal humans willing to share their message. They are tying that part that makes them come alive to being part of a bigger story. If you missed that point then perhaps you missed the whole reason they are christian: "To share a story worth living."
User ReviewLael AI totally enjoyed the movie. Spectacular scenery. As much risk in the conversations about pursuing meaning and purpose as in the ride itself. I've been deeply helped by John Eldredge and Ransomed Heart. Glad he took the risk to bring this convo to a film. Shows that loving well can be more of a risk than a motorcycle ride. Going along on the ride was great fun.
