Boxoffice MagazineKat GiantisPlays more like the satirical Bob Roberts than a documentary
San Francisco ExaminerBarbara ShulgasserI HATE to whine, but if Michael Douglas is half as tired of playing yuppie scum as I am of watching him do it, then he must be napping on a regular basis by now.
Deseret News (Salt Lake City)Chris HicksIt's quite a revealing, amusing and ultimately dispiriting trip
Chicago Sun-TimesRoger EbertI think it works like a nasty little machine to keep us involved and disturbed; my attention never strayed, and one of the elements I liked was the way Paltrow's character isn't sentimentalized.
New York TimesJanet MaslinA fine, trenchant political documentary on a par with The War Room
Washington PostHal HinsonOne of a small handful of essential films about politics in this country.
San Francisco ChronicleMick LaSalleThere's nothing about this thriller to prevent it from soon becoming enmeshed in the memory with others in which Michael Douglas wears a starched collar and grits his teeth.
User ReviewJonathan BI'm a political nerd, I love this stuff.
User ReviewPaul P'A Perfect Candidate' is the political documentary Michael Moore will aspire to make for his entire career and will probably never match. This documentary is easily the most honest portrayal of what politics have turned into in America today, that i have seen. Chuck Robb is absolutely clueless. The scene of him wondering a grocery store for people to meet is the definition of socially retarded. Oliver North is unbelievably creepy. I wouldn't go as far as calling him a modern day, non-violent Daniel Plainview but that is pretty close. Mark Goodwin talking about political strategy throughout is brutally depressing. Required viewing for everyone who votes in the United States.
User ReviewTravis GNothing beats seeing felon Ollie North fail to win a Senate seat!
