In the 1870s, Jacobina, daughter of German immigrants to southern Brazil, starts to break with both the Catholic and Lutheran churches to preach physical healing through soul cleansing. After having a divine vision and speaking with Jesus, she suddenly changes her look and usual ways, disturbing the local, ultra-conservative population.
