User ReviewAndrea BI was planning on watching an Almodovar movie tonight but I have seen all of his that are currently on Hulu. So I went with the next best thing and watched a Penelope Cruz movie...Beautiful.
User ReviewAnna IOkay, we just red boxed this movie and it was so good! I? love this true story and what makes it even better, helloooooo, my man, Adrian B!!! There isn't anything he stars in/does that isn't good. Penelope is beautiful in this too. She's the most beautiful I have ever seen. Last but not least, by far, my favorite line: "You are the most beautiful ugly man I have ever seen." <3
User ReviewCriss TI enjoyed this film, I gotta watch it again
User ReviewHervé MBeautiful, and boring. Excellent actors, but the director should have kept a 1-hour-long version instead of adding unnecessary minutes...or should have added some content.
User ReviewChristopher BI felt largely confused throughout most of this movie trying to understand if I was watching a flashback or not, and which girl Manolete was crying over. In the end those were details that just didn't matter. I never felt attached to the love story so I enjoyed the cinematography and being transported back to 1940's Spain and learning a bit about bull fighting.
User ReviewRicardo RA well-put movie about the story of "torero" Manolo (Adrien Brody) and his relationship with Lupe (Penà (C)lope Cruz). The opening credits are interesting because they include actual footage that was taken. (Not only is this footage shown in the credits, but also throughout the whole movie). Art direction is really good; from the sets to the costumes, one does feel like it is the 40s. There are a lot of beautiful overhead shots and the last scenes when Manolo is being carried in a coffin, are very nice; the petals flying all over the place look very appealing. I would have liked for the movie to be in Spanish to make it a little more believable, but even though it wasn't, as a viewer, you do get lost in the screen because it is very well acted. There are a couple of extremely overblown shots when they're in the sun, I feel like that could have been worked out a little better. Overall, this is an interesting movie to watch about a man who was told not to fear death and not to fall for a woman.
User Reviewstefano lToo many flash-backs, the storyline is difficoultly followed. Few emotions, also during the bullfights. The best part is the mixing of documentaris of the time and today's movie.
