Full Plot Details

After a suspicious fatal car accident in Hastings where the identity of the victim was forged, the Quality Life insurance company sends their smart investigator Abe Holt to identify the body. The unique beneficiary of the one million dollars death benefit is the sister of the victim, Isold, who lives with her son Thor and her husband Fred in a poor cabin in the middle of nowhere. Along the investigation, Abe discloses the truth about the fraud, but feels sorry for Isold and Thor and tries to help them with tragic consequences.

User Review - 8/10 by Guillaume LKormakur transpose son univers apre et poisseux aux USA. Il a un peu grossi le trait dans la desolation des paysages et la "beaufitude" des habitants. Cela contribue a creer une atmosphere unique dira-t-on ! Le personnage de Whitaker est plus interessant, plus ambigu. Meme si on devine son evolution a l'image d'un intrigue apparemment complexe mais qui reprend des themes classiques : usurpation d'identite, arnaque a l'assurance. Le film egratigne d'ailleurs avec un certain bonheur le metier d'assureur (voyous ! :-) ). Il est bien mene et merite d'etre vu. Meme s'il ne vous laissera pas un souvenir imperissable.

Forest Whitaker keeps popping up in these unheard of films. Julia Stiles plays the abused female and does a excellent job of it. Child Actor Alfred Harnsworth reached the top of the peak in this one. It will keep you on the very edge of your seat, you will not get up or walk away from this one. 4 Stars reaching for 5
