Leave your thoughts about A Heartbeat Away.
ABC Radio BrisbaneMatthew ToomeyI'm describing it as being like the pilot for a cheesy 90s sitcom that no television network wanted to buy.
At the Movies (Australia)David StrattonSo determined that audiences will love it that it falls into the trap of feel-good cliches.
Matt's Movie ReviewsMatthew PejkovicIn its lofty ambition to reach the heights of Baz Luhrman inspired fantasy, A Heartbeat Away ends up becoming the worse type of Australian bred fantastical farce.
Sydney Morning HeraldGiles HardieFor those unfortunate enough to be locked in a room with this film, look out for Isabel Lucas' eyewatering recreation of the famous dance scene from Flashdance, for anyone else, take heart in staying away from A Heartbeat Away.
The Age (Australia)Jim SchembriUnspeakably bad...This film will do nobody any good and should not have been released.
The VineAnthony MorrisSeriously: you have no idea how badly you need to make sure you and your loved ones stay away from this.
Herald Sun (Australia)Leigh PaatschAccording to our hipster hero, you can't get more sonically 2011 than Red Hot Chili Peppers. So in the spirit of such whip-smart with-it-ness, a message to all involved with the making of A Heartbeat Away: give it away, give it away, give it away, NOW!
User ReviewStu JI saw A Heartbeat Away and Griff the Inivisible yesterday and loved both of them. For a change Aust has made some films you can actually take your kids to, don't have to think too much about and just be entertained. Heartbeat is easy to watch, although Isabel Lucas made a pretty poor effort which is to its detriment, but the rest is fabulous. The music is great and the audience was clapping to some good light hearted entertainment. Griff is great and not a hard watch with some very good performances. Please Australia, make some more of these films.
User ReviewHenry DWhat's missing from these reviews is 'what market is it suitable for?' Everyone is acting as if it was aimed at an informed adult audience, when it's a PG rated film. None of them mention that it is a well shot, harmless dramatic vehicle suitable for families with pre-teens, with an opportunity to see some great Australian actors at work. On that basis I'm giving it 3 stars
User ReviewMichael ATerrible - like a 90 min episode of Neighbours. Suspect it won't last in cinemas very long. There were only two other people in my session tonight.
