Mark is a wannabe actor, penniless, clueless, and inept. He cares for a brother who's paraplegic, and he has a girlfriend, Sally, who wants out of the relationship. His idea of life is to go to the occasional audition, dodge his landlord (having spent the rent money Sally gave him), give Sally a hang-dog look, and talk with Pearce, who lives upstairs. Mark's flat is in disrepair: the kitchen window slams shut, bits of plaster fall from the ceiling, a bulb fizzes, and the sitting-room chandelier sways. When an awful accident happens, Mark freezes, which precipitates additional accidents; he finally calls Pearce, perhaps the worst decision possible. Will Mark come to his senses?

Movie Reviews

Slant Magazine - 8/10 by Joseph Jon LanthierThe smarmily organic execution pivots upon unpredictable flourishes of postmodern reflexivity and quiet nods to the perplexing traditions of Irish storytelling.
sbs.com.au - 8/10 by Simon FosterNo amount of sly, beguiling Irish charm can overcome the inherent stupidity of the lead characters or the increasingly not-funny-just-hopeless situations in which they find themselves.
NYC Movie Guru - 7/10 by Avi OfferAn often wickedly funny and witty dark comedy that becomes somewhat uneven in tone and eventually loses its steam as well as its bite.
Ozus' World Movie Reviews - 7/10 by Dennis SchwartzThings after the halfway point move from the ridiculous to the stupid.
Sydney Morning Herald - 6/10 by Paul ByrnesIf Mark and Pierce had been two people whose welfare I cared more deeply about, the film might have carried me for the duration. As it is, they were a bit like guests who stayed too long at dinner.
MovieTime, ABC Radio National - 5/10 by Jason Di RossoIt feels like a television episode gone on too long.
At the Movies (Australia) - 5/10 by David StrattonA rather outrageous comedy which knows exactly what it's doing and, within its limitations, does it very well indeed.
User Review - 10/10 by Bruno LHilarious! The line between reality and fantasy, fact and fiction gets blurry as the film gets inside the mind of the writer and director of a film. Really good dark comedy.
User Review - 8/10 by Daura MGreat movie. Very surprising black comedy. I think, the best movie I've seen in the cinema lately
User Review - 8/10 by Niamh EA lousy title but a great flick. A very, very dark comedy and Dylan Moran is superb.
