ESplatterLucius GoreConsidering how low the budget obviously was, Bava does a great job crafting a classic giallo mystery. The film may even have inspired Wes Craven's "Scream 3," which was also a horror movie about the making of a horror movie.
Eye for FilmJennie KermodeThere are real scares along the way ... and Bava shows an early mastery of tension. This film is a must for his fans, an interesting curiosity for others.
User ReviewAl MReally cool giallo by Lamberto Bava. Michele Soavi also plays a not so minor part in the film. Does push giallo into more excessive realms of violence in some very effective scenes. Also, some great camerawork, particularly in the killing scenes.
User ReviewIsaac BFucking great slasher flick. Not a high body count but makes up for it in story line and gore. You can feel the Argento influence in the is film. Also the director is the son of the late Mario Bava.

User ReviewJim HSolid later period giallo effort from Lamberto Bava. I watched the dub which was pretty terrible. Will have to watch again with subtitles. The outcome is one that has been employed in other films and is poses problems for a more modern audience but it's still great overall. Giovanni Frezza has a small role as well which is always good to see. Not up there with Bob in The House by the Cemetery but I guess he'll never top that one!
User ReviewMarc WAmusing Giallo with TONS of mysterious moments and a cool soundtrack. There ain't much gore in it, more suspense and mystery... except for one beautiful scene which gave me some "Suspiria"-feels... Have you ever wondered what it would be like whith a movie that had ALL those great Italian gore-scenes in them? Oh, my wrong, I suppose you would get A Cat in the Brain.
User ReviewJeremy NIt's not what I'd hoped for, but it's good for it's genre.
User ReviewAnna NScary, gory Italian slasher. I liked this one alot.
User ReviewTim HCreepy and effective, Bava's hyperviolent giallo may be too strong for casual viewers but fans of Italian horror will appreciate its excesses.
