ESplatter - 8/10 by Lucius GoreConsidering how low the budget obviously was, Bava does a great job crafting a classic giallo mystery. The film may even have inspired Wes Craven's "Scream 3," which was also a horror movie about the making of a horror movie.
Eye for Film - 7/10 by Jennie KermodeThere are real scares along the way ... and Bava shows an early mastery of tension. This film is a must for his fans, an interesting curiosity for others.

User Review - 8/10 by Jim HSolid later period giallo effort from Lamberto Bava. I watched the dub which was pretty terrible. Will have to watch again with subtitles. The outcome is one that has been employed in other films and is poses problems for a more modern audience but it's still great overall. Giovanni Frezza has a small role as well which is always good to see. Not up there with Bob in The House by the Cemetery but I guess he'll never top that one!

There ain't much gore in it, more suspense and mystery... except for one beautiful scene which gave me some "Suspiria"-feels... Have you ever wondered what it would be like whith a movie that had ALL those great Italian gore-scenes in them? Oh, my wrong, I suppose you would get A Cat in the Brain.
