Godforsaken frontier in the 1930s. Nothing happens, time seems to have stopped. The 'beau monde' comprises only the military officer, medical auxiliary, teacher and tavern-keeper. But the unexpected arrival of an itinerant troupe and of beautiful actress Elisa bursts the monotonous rhythm of the townlette and its dwellers.
