Manchester 1976: Cambridge educated Tony Wilson, Granada TV presenter, is at a Sex Pistols gig. Totally inspired by this pivotal moment in music history, he and his friends set up a record label, Factory Records, signing first Joy Division (who go on to become New Order) then James and the Happy Mondays, who all become seminal artists of their time. What ensues is a tale of music, sex, drugs, larger-than-life characters, and the birth of one of the most famous dance clubs in the world, The Hacienda - a mecca for clubbers as famous as the likes of Studio 54. Graphically depicting the music and dance heritage of Manchester from the late 70's to the early 90's, this comedy documents the vibrancy that made Mad-chester the place in the world that you would most like to be.

Film Journal International - 10/10 by David NohLaced with brilliantly funny non-sequiturs and cameo appearances, and suffused with a pure love of the setting and real music which did indeed exist before all the corporations took over.
The New York Times - 10/10 by A.O. Scott"Print the legend," Mr. Wilson says at one point, both quoting John Ford and laying the foundation for his own often fact-free fabulous fabulism. And this movie is just that -- fabulous.

Dallas Observer - 9/10 by Robert WilonskyAmazing, rich in authentic period atmosphere and detail, an ever-changing cyclorama of a movie.
Fantastica Daily - 9/10 by Staci Layne Wilson24 Hour Party People is anything but a party.
Salon.com - 9/10 by Jeff StarkThis dizzying saga of the '80s Manchester music scene is garish, reckless, endlessly self-indulgent and totally untrustworthy. What a blast!
Austin Chronicle - 9/10 by Marc SavlovLoud, hilarious, and enormously entertaining, 24 Hour Party People makes you want to toss current FM radio out on its pre-fab, corporate-sponsored backside. And not a moment too soon.
