Movie MezzanineAndy CrumpCasting Donnie Yen in a martial arts film and burying him in CGI is akin to casting Arnold Schwarzenegger in an action film and arming him with a Nerf gun.
Slant MagazineKenji FujishimaAn immensely gifted physical performer, Donnie Yen isn't strong enough an actor to suggest an authentic inner life to his character beyond a vague sense of stone-faced dissatisfaction.
VarietyRussell EdwardsAn above-average martial-arts actioner that reinforces Donnie Yen’s “Man With No Name” ambience.
Los Angeles TimesGary GoldsteinThe movie's raison d'etre, its many highflying, wildly violent, often digitally enhanced kung fu fighting sequences, are edited with so much sleight of hand they may evoke more eye rolls than gasps. But the hard-working sound design, effectively stark visual palette and propulsive score do manage to impress.

User ReviewMichael DGreat Action, beautiful photography one of my favorites
User ReviewIndu RGreat acting and good, solid story line are just a couple of reasons why this is rated 5 stars. Donnie Yen delivered a solid performance, both in the martial arts as well as his acting skills. He really has come a long way. Zhao Wei is good as usual. Wu Chun did a great job with the fight scenes, especially against Donnie. Great cinematography. My only complaint was the waste of Sammo Hung, who did very little in the film. However, his presence alone gave you the sense of his character. So overall, good entertaining film.
User ReviewJay HOne word: AWESOME! Donnie does it again! it is so cool to see action sequences that comes with swords but it has twist to it! It only makes us to want more of hand to hand combat but the sword fights will make you drool in this one! I am so glad that I saw this film. I put this film in my list of all time favorite martial art films! Donnie Yen Rocks!

User ReviewJohnny GI really enjoyed watching 14 Blades. An interesting story with cool cinematography. A bit confusing to start with but once I got into it I properly enjoyed it. Needs a bit of suspended belief like most action films but overall very well made.
