Movie Reviews

Observer - 8/10 by Rex ReedWritten and directed with an overload of talent by Lindsay Gossling, it rarely falters and leaves a viewer grateful for a whirlwind of character-driven suspense and humanity instead of the usual Hollywood cliches.
Movie Nation - 6/10 by Roger MooreFor an emotionally-grounded disaster movie, I found it a harrowing recreation of the real thing, emotionally affecting and not bad. Not bad at all.
The Guardian - 4/10 by Leslie FelperinThe production values are a bit too pedestrian to elevate this much above the ordinary.
The Globe and Mail (Toronto) - 4/10 by Alisha MughalThe film’s heart may be in the right place, but a melodramatic score, pastoral cinematography and deeply sentimental character arcs make for an altogether mediocre drama, not an urgent thriller.
The Film Stage - 3/10 by Jared MobarakGossling populates this little town with so many horrible people that you assume the tornadoes are coming to purge them from society. It’s therefore somewhat jarring when she lets impending tragedy provide them redemption instead.
User Review - 7/10 by icotzabbAdmittedly im a weather enthusiast. I thought the attention to detail was really great. The debris and storm damage was incredible. Now yes the ending was overly dramatic but even though the storm only lasts a little while they tear people apart literally and figuratively. Its about the lives that are changed and the aftermath.
User Review - 7/10 by Josh-BontrontMe being a storm spotter, I've always wanted a tornado film that depicted the weather realistically and not just for show... this film does exactly that. This is hands down the most realistic one to date and wasn't at all like 'Into The Storm' for example, where the weather was simply made to look cool and do cool things. With that said, we only get one shot of the tornado throughout the whole movie. That one shot however, is the most ominous and chilling I've seen in a tornado flick... but you are still left wanting to see more. On the plus side, there were quite a few scenes that took place inside the tornado and those were great. The first act of the film is drawn out due to the sheer number of characters that were introduced and developed. The film could have benefited from having a third of those characters removed, as you are left wondering when the actual weather part of the movie is going to start. During the aftermath of the storm, you gain a real understanding of just how destructive these forces of nature can be and how crucial it is to heed the warnings and take cover when severe weather is imminent. This movie needed to be made for that sole purpose. Is it worth the watch? Hell yeah! Is it better than 'Twister'?...
User Review - 4/10 by Mauro_Lanari(Mauro Lanari) Superior to the Syfy or Cinetel level, it is a modest film as much as honest in its ambitions, offering nothing more than what it promises.
User Review - 3/10 by JLuis_001This film uses a natural disaster as a background narrative device, in this case a tornado, but what it really tries to be is a sort of morality tale that deals with issues like undocumented immigrants, abortion, racism, coming out, and religious intolerance, and yet, when it all blows up nothing is resolved, they're just confronted with it, trying to make you believe that the catastrophic event will somehow generate some sort of catharsis of acceptance. I found 13 Minutes to be bad, incompetent and insultingly manipulative.
User Review - 1/10 by DrewlombI thought this movie would of been about tornadoes but it was mostly political views and racism and homophobic. I recommend sticking to watching twister.
