Kai Holm was born in 1896. Kai Emil Holm was the son of master cabinetmaker Carl Andreas Holm (died 1929) and wife Margaret, born Sløk (died 1933). He was born in and grew up in Nottingham and was trained as a saddler and tapetserer in 1921, in 1922, sought to enter The Royal Theatre elevskole, from which he was removed in 1924. He made his debut in 1924 in the role of Old Chris in the play "Anna Christie" at the Betty Nansen Theatre, he was associated with the 1923-1925. The first significant role was as a joiner Engstrand in "Ghost". He has played an extensive classic repertoire. In the years 1925-26 he was attached to Svend Methlings School and Folkescene in Casinos little Theatre and appeared later on a bl.a. at det ny Teater, Folketeatret, Aarhus Theatre and The Royal Theatre. He had the ability to create small masterpieces out of even small roles (Mustapha, Urtekræmmeren and the Executioner in "Aladdin"). He played bl.a. He was the leader of the Danish Kultursamfunds tours in southern Jutland from 1933 and in the years 1937-1950 director of the Danish Kulturfilms Cinema - Toftegaards Bio. Kai Holm was director of the open air theatre at Bellahøj 1939 and 1940, and from 1950-1970 director of the World Cinema the Cinema in the circus building. He was president of the Danish Actor Federation 1947-1955, chairman of Dansk Kulturfilm 1957-1970 and for a number of years president of the Nordic Skuespillerråd. He was also a member of the Teaterrådet 1947-1955 and of Radiorådets committee 1956-1970, and he was the chairman of the Olaf poulsen's Mindefond. He debuted on film in 1923 and appeared in more Fy and Bi Films. In stumfilmen "Tordenstenene" from 1927, he plays a laborer. He starred in another 5 silent films in 1931 appeared in the Danish film the first sound film "præsten I Vejlby", where he played the unsympathetic Niels Bruus. In the next 45 years, he played in about 40 films, mostly in small and not particularly nice roles. The first real starring role he had in his very last film from 1979 "Dreaming is noisy not when they die". It was he also, in return, a Bodil for. On TV-the Theatre, he played bl.a. in the "Natteherberget" and Kai Holm starred countless times in the radio's radio dramas and as the presenter of royal poets.
