eFilmCritic.comBrian MckayAlthough there is a dearth of action in the first two acts, the final showdown is exciting stuff, and has some of the best sword choreography in the series to date.
User ReviewJeremy GThe definitive movie from the early stage of the series. This is the first time we really see the dark side of Zatoichi.

User ReviewChristopher BThe hero finds Otane again, just as the tales of his exploits begin to spread. The ronin Gajuro reminds me of Mifune in the first of the Miyamoto Musashi trilogy; rough, rude, yet strong and with some natural swordsmanship. The excellent script & editing highlight the conflicts of village fairness with the yakuza way of might. This is a strong moral tale with an astounding final 25 minutes. Could you dance?
User ReviewJayden CSeen them all. Even the series!!! Every time i cream my pants from pleasure. Is something wrong with me?
User ReviewMorris NI found this film very engaging. I can see why Zatoichi is so popular.
User ReviewBJ WA little darker in tone and that's not a bad thing at all!
User ReviewOrlok WZatoichi is more badass than James Bond. These serial films are fun, economical and stylish.
User ReviewScubaSteve Walter MAnother solid Zatoichi film, Zatoichi The Fugitive once again follow Zatoichi as he is pursued and must do the right thing in order to protect and help the helpless and defend himself from those wanting him dead. This entry is a little slow paced in the first half but picks up and introduces a very formidable enemy that, for a while, is Zatoichi's equal in battle. There is some great and very well done battle choreography in the grand final duel that is simply awesome!
