eFilmCritic.com - 8/10 by Brian Mckayas much fun as your average Zatoichi flick, with plenty of humor and sword slashing and guys standing as still as statues before falling over dead
User Review - 10/10 by George LSeen them all. Even the series!!! Every time i cream my pants from pleasure. Is something wrong with me?
User Review - 10/10 by Paul MAfter I'd watched this I thought to myself: "that was one of the best Zartoichi's I'd seen to date". I don't know why, but I tend to think that after every new Zatoichi film... I can't fault this series. The Zatoichi films are so interesting to watch...
User Review - 10/10 by Mark ZI thought the same thing Paul did.I've watched every movie and most of the TV episodes....and I'd still have to say On the Road is the best.

User Review - 8/10 by BJ WGotta love it when Zatoichi goes all hand of justice on some poor bastards.
User Review - 8/10 by ScubaSteve Walter MBeing one of the better Zatoichi films, Zatoichi On The Road really showcases Zatoichi's incredible skill, raw awesomeness and his admirable values. It's a very entertaining action film and still manages to tell an engaging story, even if it's not perfectly written.
User Review - 8/10 by Steve WHere is a fresh Ichi tale, devoid of any previous attachments - except Zato's notoriety continues to spread. I would rate this higher, but why the masseur would go to such lengths to save a quintessentially helpless "damsel in distress" is not made clear. Fujimura's Omitsu is not a child but is as incapable of taking care of herself as a 3 year old. He could at least have muttered something about the "useless wench" instead of saying "I hope she makes someone a good wife". Otherwise plenty of slayings and morality lessons here. Fujiwara Reiko however gets a great role with Ohisa. A shame she didn't get a better exit.
User Review - 6/10 by Sam JZatoichi returns in a film where he's on a journey somewhere, meets someone and takes it upon himself to help them thus resulting in a different journey, then it all comes back around to his original journey... and this journey is "on the road". In fact, I think most Zatoichi movies could have the title On the Road cause that's usually where we find the title character but in this films he's not only a good swordsman, he's honourable, smart, cunning, devious, and true to his word. This is the kind of honourable samurai movie you might expect from a Zatoichi film. While I don't exactly find his fighting skills all that great... considering he's blind, it's a clear indication that nobody else has much skill. This makes Zatoichi seem like something out of this world almost. He is possibly one of the first Japanese superheroes. Worth checking out and a must watch for fans of samurai films and Zatoichi in general.
