In WWII Pat Jamieson is a scientist working, with Government support, on a high-altitude oxygen mask for fighter pilots. But he has nowhere to conduct his research in secret until he meets Jamie Rowan, a woman with an unused house with a scientist's basement. Jamie has no hopes of marrying for love (and neither does Pat) but Jamie wants to help the war effort and she likes this quirky scientist and his dog, so to satisfy the proprieties they agree on a business arrangement: a marriage of convenience and partnership. They happily work on oxygen mixes instead of honeymooning. But as the footing of their relationship begins warm up, Jamie is courted by another man and the old flame that broke Pat's heart is back in his life. It will take a sleepwalking ruse, dodging in and out of doors, and a working oxygen mask to get them together again.

The New York TimesBosley CrowtherMiss Hepburn gives a mischievous performance as the girl who really wants to be chased, and Mr. Tracy is charmingly acerbic when confronted with her cool or coy wiles.
Chicago ReaderDave KehrThis 1944 Hepburn-Tracy pairing is so undistinguished that it's nearly dropped out of the history books.
User ReviewCaro HExcellent screwball comedy. One of the better Hepburn-Tracy collaborations. Hepburn's character is a lot like me!
User ReviewAmanda Ci just love katharine hepburn and spencer tracy
User ReviewPrivate Ucharming tracy/hepburn movie, not often seen but well worth digging up. deals with secret government research and a housing crunch in DC durring the war
User ReviewJennifer CIt's an underappreciated little film (especially for a Hepburn-Tracy pairing). Tracy is pricklier than ever, and Hepburn's performance is actually really touching. There are some hints of unnecessary screwball-ness to it (Tracy's sleepwalking problem, for one), but it's easy to forgive.
User ReviewGrace KThis was my first Spencer Tracy movie. He was quite a great character. Katherine Hepburn -- always the independent, opinionated, strong woman lead. But, I couldn't help cracking a smile every now and then, and rooting for the two of them. And the dog, Dizzy? Tres cute.
User ReviewAj VA great Hepburn and Tracy movie. He's a scientist who doesn't have time for love, she starts to help him out with his experiments, and they unintentionally fall for each other without realizing it. A fun movie.
User ReviewTimothy MA forgotten gem in the Tracy/Hepburn collection. The two greatest actors of all time together again on screen. Heaven in just under 2 hours!
User ReviewRichard SAmong life's great disappointments is the fact that a film written by Phillip Barry and starring Katharine Hepburn could be so completely mediocre.
